Got Beattie 1-0 written all over it this. It'll be a terrible game n all.
Actually, the official soul destroying, weekend ruining script has Beattie scoring first, us equalising and then some big African making our defenders look stupid and winning it for Stoke late on. But just ignore it.
-
I had a dream in which Ryan Taylor scored from a free kick and we won 2-0.
-
Chelsea 2 Bolton 0. They really are very good, which is making me slightly more confident about last week and the match today.

got nowt to do with being a foreigner. everything to do with being thick though. dont tarnish our overseas fans cos one of them made a laughably ignorant statement, plenty of geordies come out with rubbish too.
I know, but quite a few foreign/none Geordie based fans talk a lot of crap where this club's history and especially where figures like KK are concerned. Oh and I'm aware I come out with a lot of crap doesn't excuse comments that basically say KK isn't an NUFC legend when he most certainly is and always will be. It irks me that no-bodies who do something daft in a match (ketsbaia) or score a hat-trick in a big game (Tino) get classed as legends. No people, they are not, not even heroes, its the likes of KK, Sir Bobby, Moncur, Shearer, Harvey, Wor Jackie, Hughie Gallacher, Super Mac et al that are heroes and legends.
I'm allowed to think that Keegan's a cowardly prick for what he did in September while still acknowledging his legendary achievements in the past.
This. What Keegan did all those years ago was an accomplishment, but I don't think real legends walk out and then sue you. I don't see how you can look at SBR still turning up in his condition (and after his shameful dismissal) and Keegan walking away, never to be heard from again, and compare him favorably to SBR. "I love Bobby Robson but..." is what strikes me as inappropriate, simply because he dared to call Keegan "yesterday's man."
But I do regret typing it late last night, because I seem to have triggered another s*** storm thread. Apologies.
you haven't triggered a s*** storm at all. You just don't understand what Keegan did for the club, because you don't understand just how s*** it was.
OK. But I think there may be a few people out there who are old enough (or Geordie enough) to have appreciated 92-93 and might still be justifiably annoyed with how Keegan handled his departure, and blame him in part for the situation today. Surely the fact that his decision to leave angers me should be some indication that I wanted him to stay as manager - he had the team playing well. Which makes his decision all the more frustrating. Why just walk away like that, how does that put the club first?

Chicago...
Says a lot.
Yeah, f*** me what do I know. Although you do have SBR calling Keegan yesterday's man as well, but he's just a mouthpiece for Ashley as well. Poor old King Kev, misunderstood by everyone.
Newcastle have had one legendary managerYou wouldn't be supporting the club if it wasn't not for KK man.
Sir Bobby would never have done what KK did, come to an ailing second division club on the brink of relegation and going bust and that's not me having a dig at the man, just putting things into perspective. In fact without KK there would have been no Sir Bobby. They are both legends, as is Harvey the last man who won us a trophy who you conveniently failed to mention. I can understand people still being pissed off about KK leaving but f*** me, its getting sillier and sillier to the point where its as if what he's achieved for this club (basically he saved us and paved the way for Sir Bobby and those high finishes and CL nights) didn't happen. You being a foreigner cannot possibly comprehend what KK means to the people of this club even outside of football matters so stick your s**** where it belongs.

For future reference, can we get some sort of scale on the forum. I'd like to know whose opinions are 100% Geordie approved, and whether non-Geordie ex-pat opinions are worth the same or less than non-Geordie UK based opinions, versus non-Geordie, Johnny Foreigner opinions. And hows does the E.U. factor in, if at all? Thanks.

I just wish Shearer had been appointed 16 months ago after Sam Allardyce was sacked. Instead, yesterday's man Keegan was appointed instead of tomorrow's man.
Interesting comment.
And completely accurate.
Newcastle have had one legendary manager, and his name was Bobby Robson, not Kevin Keegan. One man was sacked and still turned up to see the club he loves despite being seriously ill. The other f***ed off to play golf while we were sucked into a relegation battle.
This thread should be titled 'I Love Bobby Robson.' No buts about it.
Who's a special little boy...
If we were dead last in the Championship with over half the season gone and no players to buy or sell do you think Robson even answers the phone to manage us?
We got taken for a ride so Keegan could pay his Soccer Circus debts. Sell the King Kev hats & t-shirts on eBay and move on.

apologies but I just get fed up of the kneejerk bullshit around here whenever we concede
To be fair, I think the kneejerk pessimism is a reaction to the total collapse on the pitch that happens whenever we concede. If the team acted like professionals and were capable of getting back into games when they let a goal in, there would be less hysteria.

f*** me that looks bad
Does it?
Beat Stoke next week, Sunderland lose to Man U and we're closer to survival.
f*** me that looks bad
They will be their negative, physical, much harder working selves with Tony fucking Pulis wearing his grandad baseball cap while we struggle to make our chances count and eventually concede. I've seen that fucking script a few times this season.
I have faith in Big Al, but he needs to sort this out. Make sure Nolan, Martins, Coloccini and the other offenders today get the Ian Dowie treatment. This cannot stand, we need much, much more effort.
-
Are people honestly blaming Coloccini for that late chance? Unreal, he's been s*** lately no doubt, but apparently now he's a scapegoat for everything. I suppose he was at fault for the second as well?
What are you talking about?
-
I'm starting to genuinely hate some of these players. Not too strong a word.
-
Oh by the way, Coloccini might be worse than Boumsong.
-
Well I don't suppose anyone ever expected to get much out of this game, there's 7 more to go and none of those teams are the level of Chelsea.
Got to keep a glimmer of hope going.
Liverpool.

I want electronic goal line technology and replays. Sick of it.

UNBELIEVABLE. FUCK YOU MICK MURPHY, FUCK YOU YOU UTTER CUNT.
-
GIVE US A FUCKING BREAK YOU CUNT OF A LINESMAN
-
Never expected anything, top four team, Al's first game....yada yada yada. I can't escape the fact that we are in some truly serious trouble boys and girls.
-
Styles is shit, and Terry gets away with murder. I love how he gets to stand around protesting while Lovenkrands was on the ground. It's not dissent when the England captain does it.
-
Not a classic so far is it?
-
The only thing I expect from tomorrows game is passion and will for the full 90 minutes, even if Chelsea score one or two.
The last 25-30 minutes against Arsenal is one of the most gutless performances I've seen in a long time.
I realize Chelsea are a very good team, but good performances mean fuck all. I'd say we have a better chance of winning this game - against a team that will let us play - than against a Stoke or a Boro who will go negative and frustrate us. You really don't want this to come down to the last 3 games of the season. Expect more from this game than hard work.
-
Imagine if we won.
Home game against a team that got beat by Spurs. Just don't fear these bastards and fucking go for it.
-
Tomorrow's kind of irrelevant imo. We were always bound to lose this; if we get anything it's simply a bonus. Where we are playing next season relies almost entirely on the three home games, and Stoke. That has to be 10 points at the minimum, and i believe it can happen with Shearer in charge.
Irrelevant? We have 8 games left. I don't care if the 1970 Brazil team comes back in time to play us on Saturday, we need - at the very minimum - a point. Downplaying the expectations doesn't make sense at this point.
The other games today - 2008/09
