  1. The biggest game this weekend is Hull vs Bolton by a mile.

Which marks the one and only time in the history of football in which that particular fixture will stimulate any interest at all.

  2. The activation of relegation release clauses on some of the jokers at the club and getting rid of some of the players we would otherwise struggle to get rid of.  Seeing some of these promising young players in the first team (assuming we can retain them).  That is about it.

The Championship is a less lucrative version of the Premiership, not a magic time portal back to a romanticized version of the 1970s.  I hope relegation is a nice, temporary nostalgic trip to quaint, lower league sides, we earn 100+ points and bounce back in 12 months.  But the financial structure of the club is based on that Sky money, those plastic grounds, expensive tickets and dirty foreigners.  And this is the worst possible environment for a business to lose half its revenue.  There really isn't a realistic bright side.  I would also imagine that the novelty of playing the likes of Doncaster wears off fairly quickly and that the football is just as if not more atrocious than playing Hull or Stoke.

  3. Staying in this league is actually a lot easier for us than it should be.  Beat Boro, get a draw in one of the other two and that should do it.  4 f***ing points, we shouldn't be able to survive with that but we would.  Realistically, that is all it would take.  Hell, 3 points might even do it.  That might be a record low of some sort.

And the truly astonishing thing is that we are so comprehensively s*** as a team that we won't even manage that.  This team is so f***ing awful.  Much, much better teams than us have fought much harder, earned far more points and gone down anyway.  And these players are letting it happen without so much as a whimper.  It really is disgusting how gutless they are.

  4. The situation is not terminal yet mathematically. But it's become useless speculating on future results. We're not going to be getting any wins.

This basically.  Maybe Liverpool will have an off day, we can secure a point at Anfield, beat Boro, draw Fulham and stay up!

Then I remember that the same shower of shit will be wearing the shirt.  The fact that it is not yet a mathematical certainty doesn't help us when the players aren't good enough to take advantage.  It takes urgency, commitment and a little bit of ability.  I can see us beating Villa on the final day only for Hull to win as well, sending us down, and Phil Brown celebrating like mad.
