If Philip Anschutz buys the club, I will literally never buy anything from the club (including a ticket) as long as he is owner. I love NUFC, but I would feel sick to my stomach knowing that my money is going to his pockets, and possibly funding his ultra-right-wing projects.
Let's all hope that he doesn't get control.
If we are going for Texan billionaires then I'll cross my fingers and hope for Jerry Jones. It will likely end up being an epic disaster regardless of which Kuwaiti/Russian or American buys it, so we can at least make the ride as fun as possible.
-
So next match does he stick with Oba and shola or start with Owen.
6 months ago he was unemployed without a hope of managing a Championship side. In the last two matches he's had his first sniff of a good team getting good results and good performances. If I were him, I wouldn't change a thing.
-
This is very important win regardless. We will see months from now as this the turning point of our season.
It really is a massive result.
-
No because even if he did promise investment he's already proven that he's not one to be trusted.
I doubt Kuwaiti oil sheiks are going to be any more trustworthy. I'd like honesty, transparency too. I'd like more investment in big name players, and I wish the Keegan situation would have been handled differently. But at the end of day, all I really care about is winning. If we win our next 5 games, I'll forget all about Keegan, Wise and net spending.
-
Win games, sack Wise, sign good players in January and move up the table. If he does these things then I'll forgive and forget.
-
I'm starting to wonder if there is one player -other than Nile Ranger- that dosn't get bashed around here.
Most of them deserve it after performances over the last few years.
-
What a bloody relief. Let's hope we can keep that team together for an extended run and build some good performances to go with the good results.
-
Was the bad second half a case of bad tactics from the manager or poor/gutless player performances? A bit of both? I didn't see the match, but some of our players have made a habit of disappearing in difficult situations.
-
The warning signs shouldn't apply. Forget expectations of the supporters, omens or the media. This is a question of professional pride. If the players have anything about them...any sort of balls at all....they will win this comfortably. End of. You do not lose the derby and then fail to beat West Brom at home. You do not do that. They don't deserve supporting if they manage that.
I don't think it is too much of a stretch to say the season is now on the line. If they can't rise to the occasion, then they never will.

It'd be kind of cool having Shearer at the Toon versus Keane at the Stadium of s****.
Worth it just for the possibility of winning at SJP with Shearer. Revenge.
-
If we are still in limbo and in the bottom 3 on February 1st then it is too late to save anything. I hope the situation will be resolved by then, but I expect that the Ashley regime will end as it began - confusion, media black out and guessing games.

Would this mean that Spurs are scrapping their DOF policy ?
It would make sense. Harry is fantastic at operating on a budget anyway. Great at finding obscure talent. I am amazed he would leave Portsmouth though.
By the way, Sky Sports are carrying some story about Mourinho being in talks with United, that doesn't even make sense.
We don't need Mourinho, we've got Kinnear.

We are a bottom 5 side, no argument from me. But Nicky Butt is the sort of player that keeps you there. I'd put Barton & Jonas (seems to be his best position) in the center of midfield, Guthrie as third choice.
-
I don't think taking Diouf down was a bad idea, just unlucky with Richardson's free kick. Butt is just so past it that I'm surprised anyone disagrees. The test is to ask yourself where he would end up if we cancelled his contract tomorrow.
A mid table Premiership club? No chance.
A bottom of the table Premiership club? The likes of Fulham, Bolton have better.
Sign up with Roeder at Norwich? Back to Oldham? Is that really the standard we want at this club?

Six months ago we rolled this lot over with ease.
Now little Dennis has strengthened the squad hugely and they're turning us over.
Something doesn't make sense.
Yeah, the squad is definitely the reason why we lost this game.
My sarcasm detector might be broken, but the squad is absolutely the reason we lost this game. We went into the season with poor options in some positions, and injuries were inevitable.
We had eleven players on the pitch today that were good enough to beat the Mackems.
We have 5 or 6 players that are head and shoulders above their mackem counterparts. But that isn't enough. If we had built a good squad this summer, we would not be playing Nicky Butt, Geremi & Shola Ameobi in the Premiership in 2008. We have good players but a bad, poorly balanced squad. We knew this in July.

"Joey Barton kisses the badge infront of the Sunderland fans during the Barclays Premier League match between Sunderland and Newcastle"
Made me smile at least.
-
They have built a good, balanced team. We have some good players, but not a good team.
Butt, Guthrie & Geremi didn't look right on paper in July, and it has been just as bad this season. Maybe Barton can step in and fix things. But as it stands, almost every other team in the league outclasses us in central midfield.
-
I don't envy those of you in the North East tonight. At least those of us abroad can switch off our phones, ignore our emails and pretend this never happened.
-
Ameobi you absolute cunt.
-
Enrique? WTF? Get another striker on.
-
Honestly, Butt had to do that.
-
The time for changes is now. Come on Joe.
-
No more of that please.

Do subs really matter that much? Shouldn't the 11 we put out be expected to do their job against Wigan at home regardless of when the subs are timed?
Seems to me like we were punished for a really amateur performance from our defenders. Ironically exploited by Titus Bramble.
