  1. Interesting article,

    http://www.timesonline.co.uk/tol/sport/columnists/matthew_syed/article6367739.ece

Can see where he is trying to come from but for the most part its un-educated bullshit. We have tried it before and

people with "no ties" to the club have failed miserably trying to do it their way ie Allardyce/Souness/Gullit. There needs to be a happy medium.

I read the times, and hate that Matthew Syed, he's a spiteful tosser, who loves to put the boot in. Seems to write a fair few hatchet articles on various people in sport.

  2. One of the few ball winners we have, not as mobile as he once was and cannot be the creative outlet in midfield we need.

He is not and never really has been an attacking midfielder.

Does not hide though and takes responsibility, when a few of our players do hide.

  3. Think about it, if we do the impossible and win at Villa there's probably more chance of a Hull win than Sunderland beating Chelsea at the bridge.

Although will Chelsea rest players for the Cup final :undecided:

Aren't Sunderland at home for the last game?

  4. I'm not sure about this.

Dont like all the bad press he brings to the club, the anger problems on and off pitch.

However, he is a good footballer, when fit and not trying to injure other players.

Maybe the lawyers cant see a way to get him out so they figure they bring him back into the fold to either use the asset they're going to be paying week in, week out, or just make him a more saleable  commodity.

Perhaps it would be best for all he went elsewhere.

  5. In similar theme:

    Awesome!

So glad Dowie is at the club if it means I get to laugh like a drain at photoshops like these

  6. It's like having an Aston Martin DB5 in the garage, you hardly get to use it, but when you do it's another class.

    Precisely.

The man was a class above tonight.

  7. f***ing get in. Just seen that Stevenage got beat in the Conference Play-Off by Cambridge United (with one minute to go in extra time)

I will bear that grudge forever.

Same here, it's petty I know but I just can't help it. :)

  8. when the players were practising one-touch passing and finishing at the Gallowgate before the pompey game (Barton, Love, Carroll, Guthrie, Edgar, Viduka, Duff) the only couple to emerge with any credibility were Viduka and Barton. The rest were pretty horrific to say the least

Did you see him have a hack at the back of Martins' legs when trying to get the ball in the warm-up?

Was worried he was going to injure him before kick-off. He apologised later but it shows how keen he is to get back.

Only worry about Barton is, him trying to hard and losing his rag in frustration then getting sent off. We need 11 palyers on the pitch for the remaining games.

  9. Got a feeling this might be like one of those games where the oppo come to frustrate and get men behind the ball. We'll struggle to break them down and the crowd will get (even more) anxious. Still got a weird feeling that we'll win 2-0, but head is saying probably a draw.

So nervous about this one, its worse than the derby match. Not going to enjoy this at all. It's enough to drive me to drink.

  10. This time Shepwatch has found that young Kenny has been given a FIFA agents licence.

Kenny Shepherd, son of former Newcastle chairman Freddy and a man whose evidence to the Quest inquiry into alleged corruption in football was criticised by former Metropolitan Police Commissioner Lord Stevens, has been given a FIFA agents licence.

Having performed a still-unclear role in some deals at his fathers former club while he did not hold a licence, Shepherd junior can now legitimately work in England - thanks to the Barbados Football Association.

In Quests final report in June 2007, Lord Stevens said there were inconsistencies between the evidence of Shepherd and former manager Graeme Souness about

Jean-Alain Boumsongs £8million move from Rangers to Newcastle, one of 17 transfers Lord Stevens refused to sign off.

Now Shepherd has gained his FIFA licence in Barbados, where he lives, and appears on the FAs list of registered overseas agents.

An FA spokesman said: Kenny Shepherd

obtained his licence overseas from the

Barbados Football Association in accordance with FIFA requirements. As such he is entitled to operate in England, provided he registers with the FA, which he has done.

Any questions regarding the testing of his fitness or propriety should be directed to  the national association of the country where he holds his licence.

    That sounds well shady :)
