  3. From Sportsmail:

EXCLUSIVE: Newcastle make official approach for Redknapp

Last updated at 11:13am on 11th January 2008

Newcastle have today made a formal approach to Portsmouth for permission to speak to manager Harry Redknapp, Sportsmail can reveal.

The 60-year-old has been torn between staying at Pompey and the challenge of taking over at St James' Park but it seems certain he will now agree to become the next Newcastle manager.

According to the London Evening Standard he has told friends that he will accept the "biggest challenge" of his life as he tries to breathe life into the ailing north east giants.

I don't know how reliable they are.... ?

  4. I simply don't get it, people keeps talking about Sam never getting the chance and now they want Redknapp out before he's even hired...

I'd prefer Redknapp anytime compared to Sam.

Sam reminds me of that Norwegian coach, Egil Drillo Olsen....

  5. laursen is more injury prone than woodgate - no joke.

did you miss his stint at Real Madrid?

Well teepee is danish as well as I am, and Laursen is a good defender, but he is very injury prone, and with the luck we have with injuries in Newcastle, he must be a no go.

  6. Once again today, Smith looked untouchable, the worst player on the pitch today, why the f*** is he playing the whole game? Cacapa could have replaced Faye in the defence and Faye could have taken Smiths place.

£6m for that piece of shit, oh my....

  7. Sam says in the Chron "he is not on my radar"

Chronicle: - I (Alan Oliver) was told by Sam that Kadar is "not on his radar" at present.

Reality: - Alan Oliver read the following story off nufc.co.uk and made it his own story for the Chronicle by adding "Sam told me" to the line: - While Sam added that 17-year-old Hungarian defender Tamas Kadar of Zalaegerszeg Torna Egylet is a player who is "not on his radar" at present.

It's on the official site as well

  8. I'm in a dilemma in the question. One part of me says sack him as soon as possible, so a new manager kan get his players in january.

Another part of me says keep Sam and let's see what he comes up with in january.

At the moment I think Sam is making some very weird tactical choises, and i'm not convinced that he's the right man yet, though i'm willing to give him more line...

  9. To be honest, and even though Milner looks tired, he's the only player at our disposal, that i'd like to se on that right wing, Geremi should be playing central with Emre. Milner right and Zoggy left. Beye, Enrique, Roz and Cacapa in the back, Given on goal, Oba and Owen up front.

  10. I don't think Sam needs to be sacked, but he needs to change some things, cause if he keeps playing like this, we won't be much better than last season.

First of all I think todays game proved that Zoggy shouldn't play at that leftback, now with Cacapa injured and Enrique apparantly not fit enough, Zoggy is the only one who can play there, I hope this will change very soon.

Second, our midfield is boring, it doesn't create anything, it's focused on defending, leaving all the offensive duties to Milner, Viduka and Martins. That's just not enough. We've played 2 good halfs this season, 1st half vs Bolton and 2nd half vs West Ham.

I still have confidence in Sam, but he needs to change the lineup and stop playing the players out of positions.
