  1. Well, you could certainly guess as 19 times out of 20 it would be the latter…
  2. Don’t know much about Van de Ven. Seems a lot of money for a relatively unproven player. Coincidentally he is a product of Volendam’s youth academy, where we’ve just sent Kuol off on loan to.
  3. Nah, not even close to that level.
  4. On in the 62nd minute in the Dutch equivalent of the Charity shield vs PSV.
  5. It’s almost like Howe saw no reason to break up his back four, which over the length of a full season proved to be one of the best in the Premier League. This preseason Howe and his coaching team will be working on giving us the best chance to replicate or improve on this record going in to next season, be it with Targett, Burn or someone else as yet unknown. Have some faith. The club have deserved it.
  6. I imagine the club will want to see if they can get him to extend his current deal, which will also help from a FFP perspective.
  7. If you consider Tonali the Shelvey replacement (upgrade) we’ve not actually added to the numbers at all. What we do have though is versatility and I assume Howe is quite happy relying on a smallish group of players who play a lot of games, ad he has shown by being slow to introduce players after coming in or back from injury.
  8. Of course there is a level of bid where we fold and sell . As good as Wilson is, he’s also 31, quite injury prone and in the final year of his contract. If someone desperate offers what we consider over the odds we will sell and look to replace. The same is true for all our players of course, but for the three reasons mentioned particularly for Wilson (and therefore for a lower fee than we would consider parting with someone like Isak or Bruno).
  9. That’s not the point of selling under FFP though, is it? We couldn’t replace ASM with the fee we got for him either. As TCD says, we should (and probably would) only consider selling if we get an offer that’s too good to refuse. All that said, this is a non story as I don’t believe anyone credible has linked Spurs to Callum at all, have they?
  10. Chelsea are no mugs on the selling side of their operation. Getting Hall without vastly overpaying was never on the cards, especially to what they will consider a top CL competitor.
  11. We shouldn’t be selling for such a paltry fee, but I said the same about ASM so who knows. At his age and with only one year left, it may be tempting
  12. What would people think would be a fee that would tempt the club into considering a sale? 40m? 50?
  13. Ah man, goosebumps. Fuck the haters, I enjoyed every moment he was with us. Class act on and off the pitch. Will miss him dearly.
  14. Don’t want to piss on your parade, but that makes no sense considering the people who bought him are basically the same as the people who own us.
  15. It points to out owners wanting to play by the rules imposed by the league on behalf of the traditional “big six” a bit too much imo. Similarly I expected a few more commercial deals, even below the 1m threshold, to come through this summer, and perhaps a legal challenge or two to crack the “fairness” of the FFP rules. If we succeed it would ultimately feel a much bigger accomplishment and we are well on course to do so, but boy are we making things a bit complicated for ourselves by not leaning on the financial might of our owners the way the likes of PSG and Man City have done to get to where they are now.
  16. The fee is a head scratcher. I can’t believe we couldn’t have got away with a higher fee considering what other players have gone for recently.
  17. It’s profit*5, so assuming Maxi was still on the books for approx 6.5m at a fee of 30m it would be approx 117.5m, HOWEVER if we were to spend this all at once and assuming we are at the limit of FFP we would then need to make the same profit every year for the next five years (seling other players for considerable profit or through commercial revenue increases) before we could even think about further incomings. So really a better way to think about it is it allows to bring spending forward.
  18. Our boy played the second half of a friendly vs Villarreal and won Feyenoord a penalty, which was converted to make the final score 1-1 edit: based on a quick scan on Twitter/X he played as a striker second half, was tireless and really impressed some Feyenoord fans.
  19. Not sure how they could when we’re arguably selling at below market value.
