We paid £6million for Dyer, back in 1998. Under Ashley, we've been conditioned to believe we cannot ever spend more than 8 million on any one player, let alone a youngish one with some potential to fulfill. Got to remember back then 6 million would probably buy you twice as much as in today's football players' market.

McLean looked very good when he broke through tbf. Put an excellent cross in from the left, and good composure to score a few goals himself.
