Any idea how to cast from NUFC TV? I have a fire stick and I've tried casting straight to it or through allcast or whatever but it never finds anything.

Just play through a web browser on a PC or your phone and you'll be able to cast it directly from there without doing anything fancy as the embedded video player has a cast button built in.

  2. Am I the only one who thought he doesn't look quite ready? In possession he looked fantastic, but out of possession he looked like he wasn't sure where to be. I think until he's had a few training sessions with the rest of the team and understand s positionally where he fits in I reckon he'll just be introduced to games with cameos.

  3. The biggest tactical masterstroke Pardew has made this year was putting the clause in Hatem's loan deal that meant he couldn't play today.

That's a Premier league rule as far as I know, nothing to do with any clause in the loan deal.

  4. First half was one of the most enjoyable NUFC games I've watched in a couple of years.

Second half we stepped off the gas a bit and let them come at us, but never really looked in danger.

Ben Arfa made an immediate impact and we were totally comfortable from then.

Palace are one of the worst sides I've seen in a long time though, would have been massively disappointed if we didn't win that.

Stoke and Arsenal at home then West Brom away.....looking forward to the Christmas games!

  5. I don't like to give Mark Lawrenson credit normally, but he predicted all the games correctly yesterday....do you think he's on for a clean sweep this weekend?

    These are his predictions today.

    Norwich v Chelsea 1-2

    Southampton v Swansea 2-1

    Tottenham v West Ham 2-0

    West Brom v Arsenal 1-1

    Comes in at around 16/1

  6. Just an observation......but I noticed that not a single player in our team ever passes the ball to Williamson, I think he received ONE pass in the second half yesterday. Our players prefer to pass back to Krul or hoof it up field, rather than pass to Williamson in space. I was at the Benfica game at St James last season when I noticed this for the first time - they purposely try to avoid passing to him!

It makes you wonder what the other players think of him, they obviously don't rate him!

To be fair he didn't do too bad when he came on yesterday, but it's obviously a waste of a position in the team if he can't contribute when we are in possession.

  7. Someone once told me that if you bet the same amount on every game at a World Cup or Euros to finish 2-2 then it's pretty likely you'll be in profit. Wonder if that would work over a PL season, if someone could do it with like 10p on each game?

I've just done a quick count and there were 26 2-2 draws last season.

Taking a quick look at the odds on Saturday for a 2-2 draw, they range from 11/1 to 18/1, averaging around 14.5/1.

If you bet £1 on every game last year for a 2-2 then for average odds of:

    11/1 you'd be £49 down.

    14.5/1 you'd be £42 up.

    18/1 you'd be £133 up

However 26 2-2 draws in a season seems a particularly high one for last year, as there were only 13 the season before, 23 the year before that and 19 the year before that.

    So no, I don't think that's a good tactic.....

  8. I cleared my betting accounts at the end of last season and had a summer off betting, I think it's time to start up again now....

A couple of accys for tomorrow

    2 homes, an away and a draw……32/1

    Blackpool v Barnsley

    Brighton v Derby

    Yeovil v Birmingham

    Ipswich v Millwall

    4 Aways...comes in at 53/1.

    Bolton Vs Reading (2/1)

    Huddersfield Vs QPR (6/5)

    Brentford Vs Sheff Utd (12/5)

    Notts County Vs Peterborough (11/8)

  9. career stats for downing on wiki, so basic (appearance, goals, assists):

    'boro      234    22    43

    villa        79      11    15

    liverpool  91      7      11

since leaving 'boro he's basically been very, very average at best and frankly wasn't that hot s*** at 'boro either stats-wise

According to those stats he actually improved at Villa, going from scoring 1 in 10 to 1 in 7 and creating a goal from 1 in 5.5 to 1 in 5.2. At Liverpool his average was 1 goal in 13 games and 1 assist in 8, whereas his career average is 1 goal in 10 games and 1 assist in 6.

So based on his career averages, say he played 30 games for us over the season we'd expect him to score 3 goals and create 5.

Personally I don't think that's enough for a winger......although it's a massive improvement on Gutierrez who last year got 1 goal and no assists and the year before got 2 goals and 3 assists (in the PL).

  10. At the end of the day he has an issue with our sponsors, it doesn't matter if it's religious or personal opinion, it doesn't matter if we think Wonga is in the same industry as Virgin or Northern Rock (which arguably is ten times worse seen as they contributed to the recession in 2007).

He has an opinion and he is making a stand.

Good on him, he has principles and he's standing by them...how many people on here could say they've done something similar?

For those old enough, who remembers Daly Thompson making a stand in the 1984 Olympics? He was against alcohol advertising and refused to wear any logos on the kit and was close to being kicked out of the Olympics. I think he had pretty much the entire world behind him at the time.......and won (both medals and his cause).

I think we need to take a step back and stop taking it so personally.....FFS the majority of fans weren't happy with Wonga becoming our sponsors, at least someone has the balls to stand up against them.

If it doesn't work out, so be it, good luck to him and I'm sure we'll make most of our money back!

  11. I think a lot of it is about having the right manager at the club, who is willing to bring players through, will nurture their development and bring them into a stable team. It was very unfair on our youngsters last season, they just got thrown in at the deep end into an unsettled, injury riddled team and there was a level of expectation that they had to succeed.

If you look at clubs where young players have broke through in the last decade or so you've got people like McClaren at Boro and O'Leary at Leeds and looking around the league now I'd expect expect people like Martinez and Rogers to do similar things. You know coaches, rather than 'managers'.

With regards to Ameobi and Ferguson, for their ages (both 21) I think they are massively underdeveloped physically. Surely we have dieticians at the club that can help them bulk up several pounds of muscle, to give them a fighting chance of competing in the premier league. But until we've got a stable team where they can slot in without any pressure or expectations on them, I think these two are never going to succeed at our club.

  12. :D

A decent back up to Cisse. You'd think he was Heskey by some of the comments I've heard over the last couple of weeks.

No one will disagree with that though.... thing is you need to come back to reality.

What will happen is he will play upfront with Cisse in a 4-4-2 with no width and it will fail massively.

No one would be against Bent if it was just merely to add depth to the squad but it won't happen like that.

This is my fear as well, Cisse and Bent are players that play in the same position......it's obvious that they shouldn't play in the same team.

I agree with the comment that he'll be a good backup to Cisse, but that's about it.

To be honest, if we are looking for a backup (or even a replacement) for Cisse, why don't we go for someone like Defoe (not sure if he's available, but he's not exactly been in favour at Spurs over the last few years)...all similar players but he's by far the most consistent!

How do you arrive at that conclusion?

Just off the top of my head from what I remember seeing of him over the last few years..... :D

  14. Ashley gives pretty generous bonus's at sports direct from what i understand, so I wouldn't be surprised if he followed through with this one regardless of the result. I think it's a ploy to generate a bit of togetherness!

  15. How can sides take shots that don't result in integers, like?

Very good point.......maybe they count sliced shots that go out for a throw-in as 0.1?

  16. Aye, without Cisse I dread to think where we'd be. Not that he's had a particularly great season, by any stretch, but he's always good for a goal - which is a helpful asset.

And if Cisse had been a little bit more composed with his shooting just think how much better off we'd have been.

I was joking with my previous post about Jonas, in all seriousness I'd give it to Krul. He's by far been our most consistent and best performer.

Enjoyed the European ride with NUFC.  I thought the spontaneous applause after Benfica goal tonight was a moment of true class.

This is true, had a lump in my throat.

    Absolutely great moment.

I agree, the whole stadium stood up and starting singing.....while the players slowly walked back to the halfway line with there heads dropped, you could tell they were totally gutted.....Hopefully it picked them up for the weekend!
