  1. If we are not relegated this year, and we buy some players this summer, the management will be proven right n have the last laugh.

If we get relegated, then the detractors here are proven right

    End stating the obvious.

I think the management made the right decision.

It is not easy to buy strikers in January. Liverpool paid well for Suarez n carroll. Chelsea was held ransom. Spurs bought no one despite having all the money n perhaps more urgency / incentive than us. Aston villa paid full fee fir bent. Imagine if our board paid that money for bent instead, how much criticism will it get ? Just because Bolton get sturridge, doesn't mean we can get him as well. Strikers are always in great demand, how many sturridges are there ? The board gamble that we could survive without Carroll. And I agree. Carrioll is a vig loss yes but offensively we have also strengtened with HBA n Ireland. So it is a calculated gamble.

5 months will buy us more time, more options  n better prices. Europe is out of touch so we really just needful survive. N I think we can survive.

  2. Is it important to get a replacement ? Realistically, we are safe, with or without Carroll. We don't have Europe to chase, n there are no reasons how could we get better prices for Carroll during the summer. So if anyone thinks that we could afford to sell in summer, there's no reason why we shouldn't sell now, 35M is a lot of money.

It is those who take an extreme long term view, people like cp40, who should be very crossed. But although I appreciate their pov, I think they are thinking too far ahead, in this notoriously volatile industry

  3. Winners

Liverpool - insignificant net spend for 2 younger, and on paper complimentary strikers

    Blackpool - survival ensured

Chelsea - money is not an issue for them. They got 1 proven scorer

Aston villa - Michael Bradley, jean makoun, Kyle walker, darren bent

Newcastle - 35M is a lot of money. Rooney paved the way for everton to stabilise themselves financially in the long term. On top of this, HBA + Ireland for loan

Birmingham - Bentley n martins on loan. Survival secured

    Jury still out

West ham - some serious money for some big uncertainties. Did not change manager

Sunderland - done well to sell bent, but failure to acquire replacement may harm Europe hunt. Muntari for loan is decent

    Loser

Spurs - fail to address squad shortage

    Arsenal - see above

Everton - see above. Victim of his own success perhaps, I expected him to get a surprise loanee

Wolves - no signing. Survival jeopardized

    Wigan - no signing

  4. Village - how 'talented' is kun exactly ?

Leo messi - Supremely skilful, supremely intellident, supremely clinical

Robinho - plenty fancy footworks, but not enough end products

David villa - no fancy footwork but supremely intelligent and clinical

Ronaldo - supremely intelligent, supremely direct

Rooney - supremely talented, but flatter to deceive

    Etc ?

  5. Redknappe is crazy. He has 4 good strikers in keane, pav, Defoe n crouch. He fails to get them to score, so he wants to spunk a lot of money on llorente. Would it not be wasteful of modric and vdv's talent if they ate asked to aim balls at llorente's head ? Theycould have bought suarez for that money

  6. Neil raises a very valid question, why are barcelona players incredibly fit n hardly injured ? Is it because they are well protected by the referee or playing culture? Players like messi twist n turn souch, accelerating n sprinting, yet he seems superman. Ronaldo os the same, but Ronaldo is still injured once in a while. N all barcelona players play regularly

Milito was injured for a long time but I suppose it is an exception.
