  1. luka Modric overrated ? A successful central midfielder will pull the club up a level due to the central role he plays, but has Modric actually propelled spurs forward ?

  5. Young managers who have done well in first season in Premiership with attacking football, in recent memory : Alan Pardew with West Ham Owen Coyles with Burnley Steve Coppell of Reading Roy Keane of Sunderland Brendan Rodgers of Swansea Young managers who have done well in first season in Premiership with "non-attacking general" football, in recent memory : Paul Jewel of Wigan Sam Allardyce of Bolton Paul Lambert of Norwich Alan Curbishley of Charlton None of this bar perhaps Sam Allardyce at Newcastle has been given a shot at big job. Make your own conclusion. I personally think Liverpool made a bold but bad choice. They should have just hired Luis Van Gaal instead.
  6. Who is she supposed to be ?
  7. I thought Kalou is horrible as a goal scorer in Chelsea. Don't know why he manages to stay for so long. Unproductive. Perhaps because he is obedient and doesn't kick up a fuss.
  8. http://www.guardian.co.uk/football/2012/jan/26/qpr-samba-diakite-nedum-onuoha Have to say Hughes has always been very impressive when it comes to transfer. A very good football tactician, coach n motivator too. Perhaps City was too big a step up. IMO QPR made a brilliant choice in hiring him
  9. I think we should not just credit Ashley, he controls the purse but llambias runs the club daily. I have largely supported ashley but I still do not get why he hired pardew. It works out well, but what exactly was the rationale ?

  11. Would really appreciate if someone could make a long Colo compilation of his time in Newcastle United
  12. http://guardian.touch-line.com/ Goals against Newcastle - 8 Citeh - 10 Liverpool - 10 Man U - 12 Chelsea - 15 In my opinion, Tim Krul is the the key person behind this.
  13. I remember there is a Tim Krul thread, but I couldn't find it in the first few pages. I tried the search function, and this is the only thread coming out. http://www.newcastle-online.org/nufcforum/index.php/topic,50137.175.html Any explanation ? Anyway, I was looking at the Premiership table, and I realised that Newcastle are currently the best defensive side in the enitre premierleague, by a fair distance one might say. And I think Tim Krul is crucial to this.
  14. MOTD highlights that the back five have been consistently playing together. I know Ryan Taylor and Danny Simpson are continuously rightly slated, and Tim Krul has bailed us out countless time, but I think MOTD has a point that a consistent defensive unit contribute to our good position.
  15. I am honestly not convinced that we deserve to win, and I am not convinced that we are good enough to deserve our current position. I think we have been very lucky, and Tim Krul has saved us many times. I know Krul is part of the team, but I am uneasy to rely on an excellent keeper. Not that I should complain. Good news is, we still have a lot of rooms for improvements, and we have yet to see Santon, and a consistent Marveaux n Barfa
  16. West ham win too, Kevin Nolan will play a big part promoting them, like he did to our promotion

    La Liga

This was the Barca's lineup. Víctor Valdés, Eric Abidal (Maxwell, 81), Dani Alves, Francesc Fábregas (Seydou Keita, 72), Javier Mascherano, Thiago Alcántara, Sergio Busquets (Gerard Piqué, 54), Xavi, Pedro, David Villa, Lionel Messi ALL their flair attackers except Iniesta are playing. Their midfielders - xavi, fabregas, thiago, busquests. Did barca like, completely totally annihilate atletico's midfield ?
  18. In the second goal, both Colo and Saylor were up attacking the penalty box. Simpson long ball to Saylor from opposition's half (Simpson and Raylor the 2 defenders staying back), Saylor's header to Colo, Colo missed it and blackburn defender headed it to Ba, Ba scored. A bit too adventurous in my opinion, not that I am complaining :-P
  19. If we sell them fir 50M, I think we should replicate the model n find new Cabaye (5M), Tiote (3M) n Marveaux (free). N we can raid ligue 1, la liga n bundesliga alternatively
  20. Sorry, silly question, how to go to the last page of thread in tapatalk ? Say for example long threads like Hatem Ben Arfa, i click on it and I am directed to the first page, I can see "next page" to move into next page, but I need to click a thousand times next page to reach the end of thread ? There must be some tricks that I have missed entirely ?

    Joey Barton

I was wondering why redknappe wasn't in for him. Wage ?
  22. Hy doesn't Liverpool look fluent. They have many good ball players - Adams (when he's on), Lucas, Suarez, downing
  23. Transfer Strategies I wonder what kind of transfer strategy would you prefer / adopt if you were entrusted the managership of Newcastle united. From my personal observations, there are a few distinctive styles of transfer different managers/whoever-in-charge adopt. What im going to write in the following involves a lot of generalization, and neglect the odds, exceptions n the non conformities - but hopefully you get my drift. (I ignore the sugar daddy superstar style of signing) A. Ferguson - never afraid to spend (sensibly), n spend your way up success. Typical signings - berbatov, cantona, jones, young, keane, Ferdinand, tevez Disadvantage - sharp transfer nose needed, mistakes could be costly B. Wenger - buy loads of youngsters, cheap or dear, n count on them to turn good Typical signings - Fabregas, Walcott, Ramsey, vela, chamberlain Disadvantage - success rate is low, n lots of brooding needed C. Comolli-spurs - buy young established foreign players whose English equivalent would cost bombs Typical signings - berbatov, vdv, sandros, Kaboul, corluka, Gomez Disadvantage - the issue of adaptation. Kaboul, Gomez, sandro? D. Comolli- Liverpool - buy players with good stats Typical signings - downing, Henderson, Carroll, Adams Disadvantage - to be seen, but they r not cheap E. Martinez/Kean - buy dirt cheap lesser known foreign players Typical signings - gohouri, alcaraz, crusat, Formica, rochina, petrovic Disadvantage - sharp transfer nose needed. Dross r typically cheap F. Llambias - strictly value for money, n not expensive Typical signings - ba, cabaye, marveaux, Ben arfa Disadvantage - missing out on players G. Moyes - loan then purchase Typical signings - arteta, Manuel Fernandez, drenthe, Stracqualursi, Howard Disadvantage - limited options H. Pulis - proven England based players Typical signings - entire stokes Disadvantage - costly, n unlikely to surprise Which style, in your opinion, is most suitable for Newcastle united as the backbone strategy ?
