Wonder if anyone else here is cynical enough to think that rebranding the stadium as Sports Direct Arena was always part of the plan, just so that whichever shitty company that was prepared to sponsor us could play the positive PR card of magnanimously handing back the stadium's real name to the fans....

season-ticket holder, said he wouldn't set foot in SJP again. Dug out an email and asked him if he'd sell me his ST for £50 then. No reply yet... Hopefully he'll say aye, and you can get a nice Wonga loan to pay it off at 2914%APR.

Blood pressure at critical here.

Wonder what odds you could get on Taggart taking a fatal heart attack in the 58th minute?

Irritated by a work mate taunting me on Facebook, said we'd get pumped, now gloating. I'm spitting in his coffee tomorrow, for sure.

He's got away with worse in his life.

Was Ba responsible for us conceding both goals then?
-
Because of what he did against Arsenal in the 4-4 draw. But they're joking, aren't they though?

It could actually be argued that Sports Direct's business model is far more reprehensible than that of Wonga, involving exploitation of workers in chronic poverty but that doesn't stop people loading up on their cheap tracky b's. Any connection between morality and football was broken some time ago, Wonga's dubious practices are just a little more transparent than some - take for example the Middle Eastern companies who are flooding stupid amounts of cash into the game these days - some of the human rights they trample on a daily basis are almost beyond belief. True enough.

Sorry, but the rest of the world ceased to give much of a shit about Newcastle United about a decade and a half ago. The only people laughing at this are some of us, some bitter Mackems and a few self-regarding Southern bastards who hate Geordies for some unknown, inexplicable reason.

A payday loan company that charges interest rates of about 3333% (not shit either, it actually does). There has been calls from politicians, members of the public, and even journalists that companies like them should be banned. If their interest rates weren't bad enough they clearly target those who can't get credit and to make matters worse even if a customers payed back their loan on time and didn't default on payments then it does not positively effect their credit score. How is that legal? Thats the big question, it fucking shouldn't be. To be fair it's not as if it isn't declared. Only because it has to be, they go as far as the possibly can to disguise the fact. How can that level of interest ever be fair? Also how can these loans which are offered to people who obviously can't be given credit via other means be handed to them without the possibility of building their credit rating to escape companies like them? (gaining a loan from Wonga can actually worsen your credit rating even if you do pay it off without defaults as other companies will look at who you are dealing with, coming to the conclusion that you are obviously desperate for finance and opting not to take the chance on you because you quite liekly won't have the funds to pay them back if your that desperate for money). Well, that's their marketplace. High risk lending to a customer base with no or few assets and negligible credit worthiness. That's why they charge those rates of interest. It's priced for risk and profitability. Obviously in an ideal world people would all have access to at least a basic bank account or credit union current account, but not everyone in the world is born good with money in any case, so even if they did have access to affordable credit they'd need to have the necessary financial/budgeting capabilities.

Morally speaking, this is uncomfortable. But there's not much you can do about it. I feel a bit sickened by the whole idea but then, we are where we are and we've already been shown by Ashley that we're completely under his thumb. At least they're a financially secure business - fastest growing company in Europe: http://www.wonga.com/blog/2010/05/13/wonga-named-fastest-growing-business-in-europe/ not that it will have any real net benefit for the Toon Army of course.

They already sponsor Hearts, Motherwell and Blackpool. Isn't there a limit on how many teams one brand can sponsor?
-
Agreed. This is fucking hellish.

Not a nice image to put in people's heads.
-
Would that mean we'd see SJP rebranded as the Everything Everywhere Arena?
-
Sniff the air, people... An 8 year contract? Now that's either a fishy smell or someone's shat themselves. Not yet sure which. Time will tell.

Watching this with Mrs GM and she pipes up: "Shola Ameobi's got a lovely smile"

Hmm, yeah...like that's a novelty.

I like Murray. As far as daft Irish cunts go, he's up there with the very best of them. Not going to get my knickers in a twist because he dared suggest Demba Ba ain't happy at the moment. Honestly, so fucking what if he did?

Spawny gets! (Us, I mean!)
