  1. Bit gutted about this one. Would have been a great pick up, allowed us to spend on other positions and Eddie would have massively improved him. Hey ho, on to the next I guess...

Feel like he's selfishly rushed himself back to try and prove he can be fit for the Euros when he blatantly wasn't ready. He could hardly run and cost us a goal, again, as well as his party piece of taking all the corners badly.

    Also totally agree.

Maintain it would have been sensible to sell him in January. We need to learn to good sellers.

    Totally agree.

  4. Was in the box office last week and the staff were saying that a NUFC App is in development as well as upgrades throughout their IT infrastructure.

They also said that this time last year, with the changeover to digital, there was still a huge demand for their time. It's been relatively painless this year and they're really happy with the way renewals etc have gone. I have to say, it was dead quiet when I was in there.

Just to be on brand, I think Southgate would be a very sensible appointment for them. His greatest achievement with England (so far) has been to eliminate the toxicity and dysfunctional nature of the squad; and if there's one club out there that needs a culture change, it's Man Utd. Obviously the Ashworth connection will work in their favour too, with senior figures finally singing from the same hymn sheet for once. Plus he's got the steely "couldn't give a fuck" resilience, and experience of the highest level games, to cope with the pressure of the job.

Different type of job of course and his tactical limitations might be more exposed at club level, but there's a lot about it which makes sense.

Agree in that he's got a certain 'statesman like' quality about him Southgate but that goes out the window if he's losing matches regularly, as their fans won't fancy him one bit imho.

From a credibility viewpoint, it would be a joke worthy appointment for many, which will become a source of embarrassment for their fans fairly quickly I'd imagine.

In some ways I can see the logic in appointing him but it only works if he gets off to a blinding start and doesn't have any streaky runs of form.

That's fucking high risk when you look at the character of their squad over the last fews years.

He'll also be tested tactically by better managers than him most weeks.

Pep, Arteta, Howe, RDZ, Poch etc would all be light years ahead of him tactically imho.

  6. Overall I felt it was poor yesterday tbh.

Thought the lap of honour was a really poor show from the fans. By the time the players had finished the Gallowgate it felt like there was only a few thousand people there at most.

Personal opinion is that they should send the players and coaches around first so we can recognise their efforts and then do a second wander/amble around with their families as it just looked like a trek around a park on a Sunday morning with your kids at points [emoji38][emoji38][emoji38].

  7. Thought was defensively excellent yesterday. Some great blocks, tackles and interceptions. He's looking far more comfortable now and less 'rabbit in the headlights' like earlier in the season.

Really promising end to the season this...

Was in Platinum Club yesterday so got a free programme, not read one for years. Just been flicking through it there and there’s a bit where it lists the companies who have boxes. One of the names is “Mr and Mrs Ashley”. I had heard rumours that Ashley’s mam and dad wanted to keep their box but that confirms it.

As part of the deal the new owners had to agree to gift his parents a box for life. It's on the halfway line. They still attend apparently.

This is from the person who runs hospitality at the ground...

  9. Thanks to Wor Flags for their sterling work this season @Heron.

Personal favourite was Brazil - I thought that looked amazing.

Just logged on here this morning to see if people were talking about the Gallowgate display. Thought I was gonna look stupid for not knowing what is was [emoji38]. Was the subject of much conjecture around us yesterday...

    Leazes looked good though .

Thanks again for all you guys do and can't wait to see what you come up with for next year...

Of course it does - spent a long time in Gosforth and while I'm about as far from local as you can get I understand.

The reference was to PSG and that I imagine is where he sees himself - Toon are a few years out from that, no? Is that realistic? Consider that he has only just over one complete season in the PL and has the best goals per minute in the league with pens stripped out bar Haaland. Only just getting going imo - the goals are a new development this season. Last time around he had same figures for assists - he's adding to his game all the time.

One footed (very) but there's been a few good's like that. And you need to remember he's been producing these numbers for Palace:laugh2:

Great to see a Palace fan on here.

Really interested in your views on your top 5 players?

I've seen a bit of your lot over the last couple of years and I'm always impressed by Anderson and Guehi as a pair.

Where do you see them when you're looking at the top 5 players given you've obviously got the attacking players + Wharton now in the mix?
