Am just gonna throw this one out there: Slaven Bilić...anyone?

Might as well throw Manuel Pellegrini's name in. He has done it before with Man City and is a fairly big name in World football. At 68, he is probably not looking long term anyway. Only bummer is he is currently with Real Betis

He has a point about them being so different.

The project is all about staying in the Premier League first and foremost. What's so different about that? Building for next phase is secondary

If indeed it was a leak from Consortium, then isn't Caulkin a guilty party too for being a pawn in this game albeit a willing pawn

The consortium's leaking of stuff is bit shambolic tbh.  Whoever is doing it to the press needs to stop it.

The "leak" could have been from anyone. Why blame the Consortium without facts?

  5. Interesting interview where Emery talks about why Arsenal's Board selected him and some of the issues he faced along the way. His time in the Premier League will be very helpful as well as his experience at PSG at managing big named players that we will inevitably sign

  6. Even if we appoint a currently non UK based new manager on Mon, How soon can he start work? So Jones may be around for another week or two. Unless we go for a British Manager

Looking on Red Cafe, they seem confident that Ten Hag could be going there. In fact their preferred manager list is pretty similar to ours. Imagine saying this a month ago. :)

Mancs keen on Fonseca, Farve & Gerrard too?

  8. Could this be the leftest of left field appointment? Preparing to accept a short term deal till Rafa or someone else is available?

    Gattuso link

Gennaro Gattuso would be willing to accept a short-term deal at Newcastle United, according to Italian journalist Fabio Santini.

Speaking on 7 Gold’s program, Il Processo, via Area Napoli, he said: "Attention: there is a sensational twist for what concerns Mr. Gennaro Gattuso.

"The coach could reach the Premier League at Newcastle.

"The Calabrian coach would also accept a fixed-term contract until the end of the current football season. "

  9. If one Joe Willock can change our fortunes last season despite Bruce;  think of what a proper manager plus many more permanent/loan quality signings can do in 2nd half of season. And we are not talking about throw of the dice type potential signings but of real quality. Many other teams will go through lean spells plus injuries etc and not all have the funds to turn things around.

Verdict ZERO chance of relegation under Consortium

It doesn't look like it's going to turn around any time soon, the limit is a total loss of £105m over three seasons. Their past three accounts showed:

    17/18 £13m loss

    18/19 £112m loss

19/20 £140m loss (doesn't count towards FFP due to Covid)

So unless they make a big profit this year that 18/19 loss is also going to keep them from spending next season. But, those losses are not just from transfer fees and the transfer fees are obviously being heavily deferred, even if they're not actually buying players right now they're clearly still paying instalments (£125m liabilities in their most recent accounts) and running at an operating loss excluding player trading.

Surprising for Rafa to overlook this point. He was even quoted recently as saying what a big difference to have a Chairman prepared to spend :D

There’s a really good interview with Yasir on YT, listening to him speak makes me think that there’s not a lot the EPL could do that he won’t have either thought of or mitigated against.

    The one with David Robinson?

  12. Just sell Joelinton for 100M quid to Saudi Clubs. He gets a comfy life and set for life. Shelvey will do well there with his camel pace. Repeat every season or whenever funds are required. This is like money laundering in art work. Value is in eyes of beholder.

    Who is it ?

The former Hull City fitness coach has left his role with Steve Bruce's backroom team

Newcastle United fitness coach Cristian Fernandez has parted company with the Magpies after half a decade of service.

The rehab expert joined the club during the Rafa Benitez era on Tyneside but remained on board under Steve Bruce.

The former Hull City and Northampton Town backroom member says he is leaving on good terms but becomes the first staff change of the club's new era.

Speaking on his personal Twitter feed Fernandez said: "After more than five years it is time to say goodbye.

"I want to thank Newcastle United for giving me the opportunity to live great experiences enjoying this amazing Toon, where we have felt at home.

"But above all for being able to meet so many good people who helped me grow personally and professionally."

And speaking about the club's recent takeover by a Middle East consortium, he added: "I wish you the best of luck in this exciting time for the city.

"I hope to see you soon. "Thank you very much."

How long has he been out of management ?

Hes always been one of my favourite managers

On 21 August 2020, Hiddink was appointed manager of the Curaçao national team.[66]

After failing to lead the nation to 2022 FIFA World Cup qualification, Hiddink contracted COVID-19 in 2021, prompting Patrick Kluivert to step in as interim manager of the team.[67] On 9 September 2021, Hiddink officially stepped down as head coach of Curaçao and announced his managerial retirement at the age of 74.[68]

  16. Amanda going for broke here .....If Bruce manages to win the game, he gets the full 8M payout without delay. If he loses, he only gets 70% of it. Bruce can do without the 30% if he gets to sign off his managerial career on a high - 1000th game and a Win

  17. Some of the Managers who have declined may be trying to be kind or diplomatic since technically their old pal Brucie is still in place. Once he gets the boot, they could be more open. Although I imagine if any were really keen, their Agents would have been in contact .

  18. 39 minutes ago, Happinesstan said:

These people think they can go and spend £300 million on a football club and be successful, despite appearing to have little knowledge about footballing matters. This explains why Bruce is still here. We might be richer than Spurs but none of it is invested. Spurs are currently richer than us = they will beat us. They're looking longer down the line.

Sir John Hall admitted he knew nothing about football when he first invested. He hit the jackpot when Keegan came on board. Will be the same for Consortium. Find the right Management structure, support them and let them do the work !
