  1. CH deserves a shot. He got us back up and that in itself is a massive achievement. Big name and so called experienced managers have not achieved that much and never quite got the team spirit thing going with the exception of Sir Bobby and Keegan but that was ages ago.

A stable club and a united squad will go a long way and this is what we have now. No one expects Newcastle to immediately start pushing for a European spot in our first season back so why all the pessimism about CH not being able to attract players. Do players really move because of managers? The really big superstars might see the manager as a deciding factor but these players are way out of our range now with MA around.

We will only be able to attract 2nd tier proven players or up and coming players with potential and age on their side and for these players, the attraction is the name of Newcastle United Football Club and not the manager. It may also be the attraction of playing in the Premiership itself. Looking around at some of the mid sized Premier League clubs, they have attracted many class players so why can't CH and Newcastle United F.C.?

We just need a great scouting system and some luck with transfers working out and then we might have a shot at a mid table position with perhaps a good Cup run and consolidate for the following season. Consolidation is not a bad word after all that has happened in recent seasons.

  2. reo coker might be a good one but wages might be a problem, there might be a bit of a clearout at villa this summer anyone else there who could do a job for us and we can realisticly get? sidwell?

Isn't Reo Coker reputed to be a big time charlie? Last thing we need is to break up the team spirit ....

  3. Wouldn't take Beye back in a month of Sundays.

32 year old former player with injuries and lack of games behind him? Come on man, there has to be better targets than him.

Probably, but if it's a choice between Simpson and bringing Beye back.......

Totally agree. Sure there are better options out there but if it was a straight choice between the 2 I'd go for Beye.

Bringing Beye back will simply destroy team morale. He wanted out when the going got tough and he deserves whatever he position he is in now.

The main difference between this season and last season's team is Team Morale and we will be depending on this to pull us through especially if we have limited transfer funds, which is looking very likely.

  4. Going back to the original thread....what would I do if I were MA? I'll put the club up for sale and leave this football thingy for good. I had my day in the sun and with Toon back to Premier league, I should be able to get a reasonable price. No more headache and fans' distaste and anger. Who cares who the next owner wants to appoint as manager or buy or sell which players.

  5. Text of Davies' interview from .com

"I'd like to congratulate Chris, his staff and players and everybody at this football club. I'd like to wish them all the very best in their challenge in the Premier League.

"All season they've been very resilient - they've showed a lot of good experience and they've done very well and obviously we would like to congratulate them. There's no doubt they have been very worthy winners in my opinion.

"That doesn't mean I'm giving up on promotion because I think with six games left we are still in a real fight for second place with West Brom.

"But I firmly believe Newcastle will finish the job. They have the players, the experience, the momentum and the infrastructure in place. :clap2:

"They know how to win when they are not at their best. My young players haven't got the experience and the know-how

to do that yet - but we are still in there fighting."

  6. Here's an interesting question: if push came to shove and we had to get rid of either Taylor or Carroll, who would you keep?

Taylor, easily. Has proven he is a decent Premier league level defender.

Taylor is decent Premier league level defender so rather will sell him than Carroll.

Andy has potential to be good premier league striker.

Agree. Taylor's absence has not really been felt with the others stepping up. And its always easier to buy a decent replacement for Taylor whilst good strikers are not cheap and Carroll's type are rarer.

  7. Aye glad to see him get the accolades he deserves from us. Best partnership we've had in modern times bar Shearer and Ferdinand, and we've had some scorchers.

Loved the fire in his belly and his never say die attitude!

He's just an honest man. Good luck to him. Dont suppose he fancies a move back here

If we make him an offer, it make just make him think seriously. He is not the type after big money and for an emotional fella, he may want to end his days on a high playing for fans who adore (not all) him.

But with his history of injuries and the budget that MA works with, it is unlikely this will ever happen ....

  8. Outgoings will be the killer in January. If we lose Enrique, Colocinni, Nolan (not that I rate him) and the like... we'll be f***ed.

Now that there's no hope for the immediate future I wouldn't be surprised if the likes of S Talyor are considering their futures as well.

Now that the c**t has stop the sale, doesn't seem likely he will sanction too many sales that will weaken the chances of promotion. Surely even a dumb f**k like him will realise that promotion will mean a lot more dosh than flogging off some key players during a crucial period

  9. Keegan. He's the only top manager who will come now. He may not be a Wenger or Fergie but seriously, even when we were doing well, we could not attract managers of their stature, what more now.

  10. i do think this would be for the best, really. i'd like us to open a new chapter rather than try to hark back to past successes, or near successes. saying that, our terrible position in the league, lack of manager, club ran unprofessionally behind the scenes and so on means that getting Keegan in would sort a lot of these problems out. I think he'd take us up and get us stablisied in the premiership, maybe a little more. and that is what we need at this point. so while i'd like us to look beyond him, i'd also take him because we're not really in a position to choose.

Heart says "I luv the Keegan years and would welcome him back". Head says "Maybe its best to move on as we will be forever trapped in KK era"

johnnypd does have a very good point that in our state right now, not many proper  managers will take us on right now. So we will be left with iffy choices. This being the case, I rather we have KK back till we are have stabilized ourselves and buy us some time.
