  1. Agreed, Anita is certainly unsuited to our typical approach to games unfortunately. The thing is though, Colback so far hasn't seemed that suited either! He has hardly been able to get on the ball, or do anything of note going forward, so either way we're screwed. He definitely was able to far more with and on the ball last season for Sunderland. I think they both absolutely need someone else in there, in and around them to give them more support.

  2. Can't believe all this Van Gaal talk

The guy was missing Van Persie, Valencia, Shaw and Evans yesterday.

It was always going to be difficult to play the new system with those kids that were out there.

  3. I find Anita to be overrated on this site. Good player but there isn't that chasm in quality between him and Colback that people think.

Anita looks so much less effective in our side, because no one moves or makes themselves available for the pass like he does. He should be starting today alongside Colback, so just watch them both when our defenders have the ball, and are looking to pass forward.

His movement in this situations is so good, and once he gets it, he's lookign for the forward short pass quickly, while everyone is just sauntering around making it easy for the people marking them. Colback is particularly guilty of this from what I've seen so far.

Anita ideally should be in a midfield three, with people who move well, and look to play quicker shorter passes.

  4. The Bas Dost link goes way back, so maybe true, as we follow people for ages.

Seems he was injured early on and late on last season, which partly explains the lack of goals, and perhaps playing time.

Looks very mobile for a 6 ft 4 striker on youtube.

  5. David Gold told ClaretandHugh exclusively: “I am really looking forward to seeing Ravel back in the team.

“It’s not my job to pick teams and I wouldn’t tell the manager what he should or shouldn’t do.

“But my personal view is that Rav could be played as an out and out striker – when he’s in the team he gives us a different dimension.

“Obviously he has an issue in front of him but his attitude has been great since he came back. With every day he is getting old and hopefully maturing.

“Our position is clear. We want to offer him a new deal further down the line so long as we see the right reaction from him.

“He had a spell in the sun last season and things  drifted away but we know that at his best he is a hugely exciting footballer.”

    Allardyce getting undermined.

Maybe they're trying to get him to jump, so there's no compo.
