Wilson has been managed very carefully this season to keep him fit but he’s still out for most of the season. I’m tired of hearing questions in press conference which evoke what sounds like Howe drafting love letters to him.

I know that may sound harsh but I’d sell him in a heartbeat now. I can’t think of a more injury prone player we’ve ever had.

You find weird things to be critical of.

Don't worry, 90% of our fans are fully behind, even if they are slightly frustrated at the moment.

Of course the 90% might be wrong. They may have backed the wrong horse but you will notice the 10% won't be able to give you a viable alternative.

Klopp on odd years and Pep on even years.

Took me a good 15 minutes after reading your post on the previous page to think who had I seen with that batshit idea before realising I'd read it on here ages ago

I’m being a bit cruel, mind you. But it was so bonkers that I can’t help myself.

    We're 7th

Last season people were stating a top 7 finish would be a dream. Maybe we're being a bit melodramatic here?

He thinks that it’s feasible to convince 2 elite managers to switch every year. Melodrama would be a welcome de-escalation.

Exactly, and this is why I'll love him. I don't think things are all his fault either. He's being hamstrung by FFP.

I keep on confusing you with Holmesy and thinking that you are bipolar as hell

It's not been a disaster, but this level of move in expected goals against is basically unprecedented. (Since the start of December, we have also conceded the most goals in the league.) Something has broken, and these sorts of results will probably continue for a while.

We’ve also scored quite a lot lately, so it’s not completely broken.

  7. My question for a few is a simple one. Would they rather the owners change the manager after every couple of seasons? The very few who even entertained the thought of Mourinho coming here would have to accept that strategy and hope for a cup final before an inevitbale rebuild happens?

    Or...

Give a manager with clear potential and likeability (and who seems to really inspire those who play for him) a bit of time into next season to iron out his clear flaws, and promote general stability and likely more long term sustainable growth?

I know the vast majority of you, including the likes of Ronaldo, likely prefer the latter. I some of the critiques,  like those about Dan Burn are largely fair before anyone decides that I don't believe that Howe deserves any criticism.  It just seems that a couple of people (and I truly mean a couple) on here have TikTok attention spans and want to change everything when there is any stretch of trouble. I am dealing with this behavior in the legal dispute over our film, so may be more sensitive to this. But I found that not responding to them at all has massively strengthened our position while the UK producers get more and more desperate. They are frantic about changing the status quo of the stalemate, whereas I am totally relaxed about it. Not saying that this should be done all the time, but changing the status quo for just the sake of taking action is rarely a good strategy.

Imagine him surrounded by a full squad  Tonali, Willock, Big Joe, Bruno, Isak… mouth watering. That’s before we get into new signings in the summer. He’s going to be outrageous

Even now as an unfinished player, and with key injuries, he will probably finish the season with 20 goal contributions. Fucking hell, this kid could be something else!

Honestly they'd be crazy to even be considering it given the circumstances. The Dan Ashworth farce has shown just how important character and integrity are at this club, every time I see Howe giving an interview I feel immense pride. That's not to say he's infallible, but he has to be judged on when we have a near enough full squad available.

One of the most sensible posts in recent history.

Wilson is done IMO, he's not even troubling defenders these days, even when he is fit.

This was said exactly a year ago. Granted he is a year older and even more beat up now, but this forum has a pretty spectacular history of egg in the face comments.

Has anyone actually called him a shit manager? I think this is happening again, where people say "I'm really pissed off with Howe doing this one specific thing that has cost us several goals in recent games - and plenty of people also have this view" which then gets turned into "posters are calling him shit and that he needs to be sacked."

He's great, I love him. He's done and continues to do wonders for us.

A dude literally called him a fucking fraud 30 minutes ago. Down to emotions and all that, but still...

How am I only just learning that Gio Reyna is mackem Claudio Reyna's son?

you didn't hear about that weird row in the United States camp during the World Cup? Claudio's wife told news outlets about a time Berhalter assaulted his then girlfriend (now wife) in the early 90's because Geo wasn't playimg regularly.

Yeah I’m not sure what’s wrong with some people. And I mean on “both sides”. Personally I’m more neutral and post things that I find valid, without going over the top either way.

I agree with you on this and think you are a very reasonable poster, but I'd point out that most people post things that they find valid.

I just think that he is making a massive mistake sticking with Burn and venting my frustration. So is your little outburst disagreeing with that?

i think playing Burn is odd as well, but you are normally like this.

The point obviously was that Howe isn’t a young manager - most managers who are successful are actually successful at this point.  Doesn’t mean he won’t win things with us, but he’s not a whippersnapper

People still underestimate what Howe did with Bournemouth. Pep had the reins handed to him given his status at Barcelona. Just happened that he is brilliant as well.

Anyway, 46 is still fairly young for managers.

  16. What confounds me is talk of bringing in "elite" managers who would only likely be here for 2 or 3 seasons. With Howe, we have the potential of having him for awhile, and the potential for him to grow with the club, which would put us in a much stronger and more stable position than some two year flash in the pan. He's earned a bit more latitude than half a season after the previous 1 and 3/4 seasons. One or two on here just gave him until the Brighton game before they started expressing concern that he may not be the right man.

And ffs, andycap, people on here were saying that we got sussed out one year ago. Forest for the trees, man.

Not sarcastic at all just think we need a system change.

well you haven't helped your argument with ridiculous hyperbole. You could have just said that instead of "cut to ribbons."

This type of posts (there are many example, I just choose the most recent one) are giving vibe that people are afraid to criticize Howe.

 do you honestly think people are afraid to criticize Howe? People do it all the time here. Some on here could use seeing what a proper authoritarian system looks like when it comes to suppressing opinions.

Why? It’s fairly well documented at this point that managers are getting totally burnt out by how intense a job like that is.. how many seasons can a manager give 100% like that before standards start to slip?

Why? It goes against the basics of psychology for a start. Try convincing an elite manager of this set up, let alone two. It also would likely just disrupt any continuity. Once again, I seriously hope that you are joking, because this is one of the most absurd suggestions I've seen yet. I also seriously hope that you know I was being sarcastic about the co-manager thing based on this suggestion. Jesus Christ, man.
