Entitled?! I’m 45 years old, I’ve supported this club since I was in single digits. I’ve seen us mis-managed from pillar-to-post for decades. Awful

managerial appointment after awful managerial appointment. Favoured players sold on and not replaced etc.

And now, finally we have owners who want to turn us into a world class sporting institution on and off the pitch. So I might genuinely have a chance to see us win something before I pop my clogs!

Maybe my mentality and expectations have changed. But our owners have installed Eddie Howe as our manager, to help fulfil their ambitions, which are now our ambitions. And I see naivety and weakness in Eddie Howe that others don’t seem to want to admit. I’m ok with that, but it doesn’t make them untrue.

You telling other fans and forum users to fuck off because they don’t share your opinions is why this board is toxic.

and helping make a win miserable for everyone else after beating your point into a ground isn't toxic? And that's coming from me, who has been guilty of that a number of times in the past. A little metacognition from you would be nice.

Instead of saying the others clown, how about answering the question he raised?

I genuinely want to know why Howe didn’t address the issue yet. Some are saying “if we are injury free our defense would be back to last year standard”. yet I can’t see how Pope could have prevent the first goal since it’s the midfield who is not doing the pressing work. I also don’t think Trippier or Botman would have helped to prevent the second goal. Is that Howe, as the manager in charge, could do nothing to help our defense? Is that his ceiling? That’s very valid quesiton imo. If that’s his ceiling then it is not wrong to call him just a stepping stone manager. We all hope he is the one we want. The defense display suggest otherwise.

We have been asking why Hall is not playing more minutes. Time after time he shows he could do a job within very limited minutes, and while most of the people said “pretty sure he has to start / play more minutes the next game” after the cameo, we all witnessed what happened, again and again. I genuinely hope we don’t see Dummett starting our next game, ahead of Hall.

All you seem capable of is sucking the air out of the room.

God damn. Just went back and looked at some of the Fantasy Football skits of Jason Lee. So fucking cringeworthy now.

That miss. I’ve seen people miss from closer but to be that far off target from five yards is perhaps a first for me

you must have never seen the legend that was Jason Lee.

First one I think was a pen. Soucek makes contract and doesn't even complain.

Second one is no way in hell a penalty. 'Oh but he kicked Gordon'. Doesn't matter. Football's not a no contact game. For it to be a foul you'd have to say that Phillips was being careless, reckless or using excessive force.

"Careless is when a player shows a lack of attention or consideration when making a challenge or acts without precaution. No disciplinary sanction is needed" [not worth bothering with the other two]

No way would I say Phillips is being careless. He's just kicking the ball. Like footballers do. Because they're playing football. Gordon jumps in front of him from his blind side as he's kicking and just blocks him. If anything Gordon's fouled him by impeding him with contact.

Seriously, you can't just block someone from kicking the ball and expect to get a free kick.

    apparently you can

We’ve been in cup finals before. I was at university ffs! 😀

To be fair, it never felt like we had a chance back then and I’d feel a bit more confident we could compete now, but winning? I’m not confident

last one before last year was 1999 though. Not exactly a normal occurrence. Howe certainly has left himself open for a bit of criticism in the PL, but we've acquitted oursleves quite well for the most part under him in the Cups.

I loved the Keegan era and for me, Sir Bobby’s time was just as magical but I’m ready for us to win something now. Ashley robbed me of 13 years, I’m now 45 and I’ve seen us win fuck all.
I’d love Eddie to be the guy to end the drought but I just don’t see it happening.

a cup final and another decent set of cup runs with this team suggest that he may not be that far off.

I was thinking about this after the game - would the fanbase take another Keegan-esque era? Exciting games like that, loads of goals but never winning anything because of defensive nativity. For me, that feels like how it will go under Howe. (For those that point out our defensive solidity last season, that is feeling more like a fluke than by design as every week goes by. Also see the rest of Howe’s PL career).

Or would they rather we won something but perhaps did it in a slightly more conservative way?

Howe probably needs more than a few gems mixed with average and decent players until we can conclude that he is incapable of winning anything, especially given the cabal at the top of the PL.

Fucking hell. Tell me what’s the reasoning behind the Krafth substitution and the Halls treatment then? Tell me what the fuck are the whole team is doing for their first goal? Where is the coaching? Keep on losing the same pattern of goals every game? Cheap goals again and again? We are closing to have the worst defence record in the league and should that not being questioned? Doom mongerer?

    Yes. Every fucking time.

seriously Howe got it fucking wrong before 3:1. Certainly you can be happy for the result alone, that’s a great comeback. But if you look in details that’s a very poor performance from our side. West Ham just sit back and wait for the goals to happen.

We conceded three goals again. again and again. I really can’t be happy for this. You can feel free to celebrate

    You are so tedious

Have to question the integrity of managers that will make a laugh and a joke of some innocent footballers just trying to do what they love tbh.

People seem determined to find a reason to really hate him

He shouldn't have been betting on football but  as has been mentioned before you're giving young lads millions of pounds and surrounding them with constant betting adverts.

As far as we know he stopped betting on football immediately after hearing he was under investigation. A young lad, moving to a new country, not knowing the language and suddenly being banned from his profession for a number of months. He's flawed just like every human but he deserves sympathy.

If he's continued to bet after the investigation or bet on games he's been involved in then I think it's a different story but the outrage people seem determined to level towards him seems completely unnecessary at this stage

Supporters are just organic grievance machines.

Personally reckon St James is built on the plot of an Indian burial ground.

Even made worse by the fact that they dug it up in Iowa, shipped the bones over to Newcastle, and then reburied them in St. James Park. Wasn't worth the extra effort, if you ask me.
