Nope it’s totally fair, this forum suffers from recency bias and are over ratting him due to us being smashed by them.

Palace have been in the league forever and never made any progress beyond mid table.

before I’m jumped on I’m not saying he’s bad or anything like that but again, nothing to suggest he’s elite or best in class at this stage.

Aye, all fair points but they could all have been made against Eddie ‘that bloke who got Bournemouth relegated’ Howe before he joined.

This regime have had decent success at hiring the right personalities so at this stage I’d put my trust in them bringing in the right fit from that perspective and allowing them to become ‘best in class’ or whatever within the right environment.

Sometimes I think that just means 'made a mistake'... I don't really understand why concentration is the thing people talk about

Because it could be from an unforced situation where they were caught off guard. The top defenders rarely do this. They’ll have a bad day at the office once in a blue moon because they’re still human, but it’s a different thing to just switching off at a crucial time.

Boumsong was almost the complete defender but we were always expecting one stupid comedy error that was completely unneeded and unforced most of the time. Same with David James actually between the sticks.

Some of them are and they are punished accordingly. The big difference here is Uefa isn’t so draconian with punishments.

The premier league has only recently become so draconian because of our emergence. As you will note the league was silent when Chelsea and City were doing it. Basically the big boys club is full now so something had to be done.

Is it just fines? If so can’t we follow suit and take the fines? Or have any of these guys been ejected?

  4. If he was sold for 100m, what does that actually do for us in terms of spending? Does that mean we have 100m to spend over 3 years? No idea how it works.

What a batshit system. Sell your stars to have to rebuild for the next half a decade.

I still don't understand that approach since Liverpool and Chelsea sold players for huge amounts which they could never have commanded from clubs outside of Saudi.

Just looked at his stats for the season. Was expecting more than 4 goals and 8 assists, but also expecting less than 26 games so swings and roundabouts.

I was just questioning the “whole thing” phrase - just seemed like over-egging the pudding. The authorities have been trying to shut the stable door for years and years, and clearly it’s been unworkable/failed as shown by Man City’s rise.

Fair enough if that's your point.

I feel there has definitely been a reaction to our takeover which has led to some very questionable policies going through, but aye it definitely isn't all in place just because of us. Agreed.

Why do you say that? FFP was agreed in 2009 by UEFA and implemented two years later. It was obviously set up - at least in part - to try to stop somebody coming in, buying any club and then throwing money at the wall. For many reasons, some nefarious, some not. Of course 13 years later it was you that got bought by a country and so you’re in their sights now.

FMV was brought in to stop us progressing quickly.

  9. I think that Willock, like a number of other players, are all part of a greater thing that just hasn’t had the chance to run this year.

Willock and Joelinton are so effective when both in midfield. Like how Murphy plays better with Trippier behind him.

That sounds like the life for me. Live in a compound.

Where might a man get a pint mate?

Not here, try Bahrain but don't tell anyone I said that.

😂 Aye the name compound sounds a bit grim but aesthetically they’re very nice.

I’m sure you’re aware, but there’s moonshine to be had.

Didn’t his missus and kids struggle to settle in Spain? Can’t imagine Saudi being any easier.

Loads easier to settle there than Spain. Life would be living in compounds with other expats and everything is done for you.

It’ll be easy, clean, safe, sanitised and boring.

  12. Such things are not acceptable at the Stadium of Light… Skintones.

Disgraceful all round from their fans. How about don’t abuse kids full stop.

    ’Haway, but he’s fat, man!’

    Aye, alright Captain America.
