If we got dcl that's three strong in the forward position. And I think Osula could do a job if giving the chance.

We know Burn, Schar, Botman even Lascelles and Krafth can do a job at CB. We know Murphy can do a job at RW and Barnes or Gordon can cover. We’ve got nothing up front outside of Isak. I think Osula is a striker but most on here think he’s a RW too. Either way he’s totally untested as a PL/CL starter. A striker is a must in this window.

How do we get this "striker of quality", when we have more pressing concerns in other areas of the pitch? Any examples who we should look for?
If we buy GK, RCB and RW all of quality, we have no money for this "striker of quality". And this leaves us with 5 midfielders for 3 places, which is way too few.

You can't understand people's thinking and I can't understand your thinking.

Striker is arguably now the most pressing position. We are hugely under resourced for a CL campaign but we could make do in every other area. We need a second striker desperately.

What stops Chelsea following us to the continent to cock block us? They did it to Liverpool a few seasons ago and just bought all their targets so they couldn't have them.

They probably would but there’s more risk and they’ve got the financial muscle to go straight to the ‘proven PL’ category. Although their scattergun approach covers every type of player in every league and age group.

  4. Highly rated PL players have other suitors with deeper pockets. We’re not ready yet to start picking up the best players from the likes of Brighton, Brentford etc. without the ESL clubs sniffing around. I wish we’d move on and look to the continent where there’s more value. Let all of these chumps join the Chelsea circus.

  5. I never get too attached to players, probably goes all the way back to getting burned by Waddle/Gazza/Beardsley but Carroll to Liverpool broke my heart. If any blue chip players leave they need to go abroad.

    Well done Anderson.

So many on here thought he was ordinary and wouldn't amount to much on his way out last summer at 21/22 years old. Scoffed at the fee Forest paid.

One year of full experience in the first team and he looks so much more confident, assured and accomplished.

Too quick to label young players that haven't got enough experience, as not being good enough.

Seeing the same thing with Quansah right now.

    Needs to add goals.

  7. Of the crew we seem to be linked with (Pedro, Elanga, Trafford etc.) this is the one I’m least bothered about. I really can’t see what the fuss is about with this bloke.

I feel like the only way to do deals quickly or decisively is to either be one of the elite clubs or just spend money like it's no object in the way that Man City or Chelsea do.

Apart from that you are going to either have to be lucky to find a player who really wants to come and doesn't have other offers to consider, or a club that really wants to sell for financial reasons. Only so many players fall into that category and it might not be the ones we want.

If your transfer policy is looking at PL players who are performing at a high level you will be fishing in the same pool as the ESL6 clubs. Bruno, Isak, Botman, Tonali are now in that category but we took a calculated risk that they would perform in the PL whilst the ESL clubs slept in. We need to look to the continent.

Not sure why anyone is expecting any business to be done until close to July onwards.

Because we can essentially ‘buy’ players now to take effect on 1st July?

    So here is a question.

Let’s assume we get a Leazes Park/Castle Leazes stadium. However there is a good chance that if it is located there, then the pitch orientation would change from the North/South one we have now, to an East/West orientation.

In this scenario which goal end would people prefer to have has our home end?

I’d say an East goal end would be closer to the city centre. You could argue that it would be better having away fans nearer to Barrack Road as well.

What’s the ‘home end’ now? Since the 80s you could say the Gallowgate but those who went earlier will say the Leazes.
