Selling Carroll to Liverpool and Cole to Man U were the two worst transfers of my life in terms of how gutted I was

The Cole one came out of the blue - but the fans trusted Keegan. The Carroll transfer broke me, heard it on the news on my way to work and followed it online all day.

  2. I don’t believe for a moment we would sell Bruno to Liverpool but the day we sold Andy Carroll is one of the worst I’ve had as an NUFC fan and I remember the Waddle/Beardsley/Gazza sales.

  3. I’m starting to favour keeping our powder dry until the summer now. I’ll be disappointed if the likes of Solanke and Gallagher are in the conversation though. We need at least 4 first team ready players plus 2 or 3 backups to replace the Ritchies and Dummetts.

  4. I’d be looking at a hungry young striker from Europe. ‘Best in class’ in their age group. This signing doesn’t engender much enthusiasm from me, not for the money talked about. Almost 100% bollocks anyway.

  5. Bruno is the flag carrier for this team. The embodiment of the post-Ashley club. We should be doing everything we possibly can to keep hold of him. I’d let anyone go before him, including Isak, as I think his attitude and determination would be harder to replace.

Exactly.  If Bruno was sold under Ashley I’d have been pissing blood.  If Bruno is sold under the current ownership, it’s because it is simply another stepping stone on the way to further growth.  No player is unsellable at any club.

If PSG bid, he’s off - they wouldn’t bid without putting feelers out first on a transfer of this size.

If he’d be happy at PSG then he’s not the bloke I thought he was. I get the release clause and I also get the fact we aren’t mature enough as a bona fide elite team to fend off those type of requests from players and/or their agents.

  7. Has Mike Ashley come back. I know FFP is constraining us to a degree but surely we aren’t selling our best players?

Not really sure what the point of anyone owning a football club now the authorities have rigged the game so much, they've got their Harlem globetrotters outcome for the top teams. The rest are just there to make them look good, and if any upstart dares to challenge the establishment, they'll shut them down as quickly as possible. With FFP rigging the game off the pitch and VAR clearly rigging it on, they now have what they always wanted, match fixing in plain sight, with no one with any power to challenge them.

Unless FFP and VAR are challenged in court then we as a club will never stand a chance, those in even less a position than us even more so. The rest of the clubs should band together, start fighting back against them, instead of laughing at each other when we've been had (guilty here, laughed at Everton and the -10)

PIF are the only owners who can conceivably challenge the status quo. They’ll spend up to FFP every season whilst gradually raising the ceiling with improved commercial contacts and increased revenue. It’s going to take a while to breach the gap though. Definitely frustrating. When Man City first qualified for the CL they became a top 4 fixture, they’ve been in every season since. That’s the type of performance the Liverpool’s et al couldn’t countenance with us.
