  1. What sort of example does that set? Give in to player demands or watch them walk out.
  2. I'm sure his agent had been fully informed (the smooth and quick signing of terms with Liverpool last night would certainly suggest that too). If this was prior to the bid being accepted and Carroll being allowed to speak to Liverpool, is that not considered tapping up? Happens every single transfer What? The club contacting the player and telling them how much they would pay him if he would be willing to sign for them? Just about, clubs don't report it as they do it themselves. Why on earth did Rooney put a request in! Cos he knew how much city would pay him. In the case of Man City you would probably just assume.

  5. Was Carroll told how much Liverpool were willing to pay him before he asked for the new contract?
  6. I'll believe this when i see it. We've been fed enough lies to be well within our rights to treat that statement as complete bullshit. I think we will get MAX 15 million on transfers.
  7. What merit does a contract hold if a player can say "ah fuck this, im worth much more than this, im going back and demanding a new one right now!", and get his way? It's not a fucking piece of dry steak that you decide you cant eat andsend it back straight away at a restaraunt, it is a legal document that you have mutually agreed upon and taken it upon yourself to honour it, without disputing its contents a couple of months after its has been created.
  8. If they wanted to build a team to win things & keep their best players & had the means to do so then they should react to what other clubs are willing to offer the lad if they want to keep him ofcourse. Otherwise they would lose him, as realistically they likely will at some point. Its very simple, if you dont negotiate you'll lose your best players as the player will nearly always go for the money if its being offered & they are being much more highly valued elsewhere. It's not so easy to anticipate a bid of 36 million, who was expecting that? For Carroll to come in on the last day of the transfer window and ask for a dramatic wage increase puts a heap of pressure on the club because going by your theory, they would have to agree right there and then to increase his wages by 40-50k or whatever it is, or ultimately lose him to the highest bidder.
  9. Depends how much extra they were willing to offer him. Man city are slightly different anyway as you have to accept you cant really compete with their ludicrous valuation of what anythings worth. But if Barton were playing well enough to be valued at 20 million by several clubs. Then you'd expect his wage to come close to matching a player of that standard & if it didnt itd be quite normal for him to try and manipulate the situation to alter it yes. Problem there is, player valuation isn't only judged on player performance. Im sure the fact that Carroll is young, english and integral to Newcastle added a significant amount onto the 35 million 'valuation' of him by Liverpool. Therefore, i dont think that in the circumstances Carroll had a right to put pressure on the club to raise his wages dramatically just TWO months after he AGREED a new deal.
  10. Because ? He wasnt being valued at 35m two months ago Are you kidding me? Say Barton signed a new contract a month ago aproximately, and a club like Man City came in and bid $20 million for him, that would justify him coming knocking for a new and improved contract. It doesnt mean shit if they are suddenly valued higher. You just signed a new contract, now honour the thing.
  11. WHAT!!!! Carroll has said he asked for a new contract AFTER liverpool had made a bid, in a bid to get more money from the whole saga which just strikes as utter greed from him and his agent. Now hold on a second here. Did he say anything about the terms of that contract? Couldn't the new contract be considered an indication that he wasn't interested in going? After 2 months after signing one. That should be enough in anyone's book. You only ask for a new contract after signing one 2 months earlier for MONEY! Of course a new contract is about money but his value has basically gone from next to nothing to 30 odd million in a year. He's our best and most important player and yet he's on 30k a week, while others are on a lot more. I think i'd be asking for a new contract as well. He just signed a new contract. If he wasnt happy with it, he shouldnt have fucking signed it. It's not right to coem back 2 months later and ask for another one. May as well get the whole squad doing it.
  12. How the fuck did this clueless moron become a millionaire? Makes me sick that somebody could be so stupid. What was he think buying a football club? Im baffled.
  13. I don't think anyone can dispute that 35 million is a fanastic sum for Carroll, its just that every other single factor is outrageously fucked up.
  14. I would be shocked if we even got half of the Carroll money to spend in the summer.
  15. Even if we do sell him for 35 million, how fucking dumb is it do it on the last day of the January transfer where we have no chance of getting a replacement in. Without Carroll i would say we have one of, if not the worst, striker department in the league.
  16. FFS. I read that as "Jose has just signed a contract".
  17. Funny. No really mate, good stuff.
  18. This is pretty big news. Surely if it were true, more than just The Sun, who are hardly credible, would have picked up on it by now?
