Harry Redknapp left fuming as Sebastien Bassong is caught short at Anfield

Sebastien Bassong bore the brunt of Harry Redknapp's frustration at Anfield last night after the Tottenham Hotspur defender's introduction as a substitute was delayed because he had forgotten to put on his shorts.

A difficult night for Spurs was encapsulated with ten minutes of the match remaining, when Redknapp chose to bring Bassong on for Ledley King. However, Bassong was completely unprepared for his manager's call and spent the next two minutes frantically scrambling for his shorts and shin pads.

“I don’t know how you forget to put your shorts on,” Redknapp said. “I’m still trying to figure it out. I’ve not seen that before. It's a new one on me and you do wonder, don't you? I don't know whether someone has to do his bootlaces up as well."

As it happened Redknapp may wish he had left Bassong on the bench. Within ten minutes of his introduction the player had conceded a penalty by upending David Ngog, allowing Dirk Kuyt to score Liverpool's second goal from the spot.

tbf, Redknapp should get the brunt of the anger against him for continually playing Palacios 90 minutes.

Does this have any relevance to the article?

No, but I just find it hard for Redknapp to be able to be angry at someone else when he's so dumb.

  2. So when does the mass clearance of all Adidas branded stock start?

A lot of stuff's been on sale on the web store for a while. Unfortunately, still to much to have shipped over here.

Any coming to the US soon?

I doubt it, club stores don't tend to leave the cities, in some cases they don't even leave the stadium. It would be a good idea to have a store in say places like Tokyo, and such where English football is popular. I dare say you could send them across to America, a few good designs and Americans will buy the stuff despite not knowing who's it is, similar to what happend over here with the New York Yankies.

I meant to say anyone, not the story. The Big Four plus a few other bigger clubs actually do have a few online stores here.

All footy shirts are massively overpriced in the US. Basically in the UK the shirts get cheaper almost as soon as they're put on sale, where as every shirt I see in the States is $70. I guess there just isn't the competition, so the prices don't drop.

That's not including having a name and/or patches put on.

  4. Surprised at the amount of dislike for Given. The guy stayed with us through far more than almost any player of his caliber would have. I'd like to see a Villa/Man City final, with any kind of result.

    Seriously, Palacios, just quit.

The whole thing with Given is that he left in January. It's as simple as that.

Thie situation as a whole is not that simple though. Had it been someone like Owen, Martins, Barton, etc., then it would be that simple

Please don't start this discussion. I beg you.

    If you say so.

  6. Going to have to go with Pool/Spurs. I would put one on my computer and one on TV, but I don't have Setanta US.

    Arsenal is on FSC.

Oh, I didn't know that. I wasn't deciding between that one, but I'll keep it on in the background. Thanks.

  7. Was it just me or was the ref blatantly biased towards City for 90mins? Aside from the pen, loads of clear fouls on United players were not given and Bellamy could have been booked about 3 times

I thought Rooney was fantastic. Clear MOTM, not Tevez.

Owen was surprisingly good as well apart from his tame shot that Onouha cleared. Linked up play and combined with Rooney well. United suddenly had a threat after that sub.

Seemed that way to me too.

Can't agree about Rooney though, he was great the last 20 minutes, but scored 0 to Tevez' 2, can't beat that.
