Airey's loan has been cut short and he's returned, after 1 start and 1 sub appearance. Not really too sure why, maybe he's been made an offer by another club - http://www.gateshead-fc.com/3852/gateshead-v-alfreton-town-tuesday-7th-february-match-off

Has nufc.com got it wrong? Of all the players we've had on-loan from you at Gateshead, Tav was the outstanding one who ripped the Conference to bits and has gone on to do well at Carlisle and Sheff Wed. So if the above is correct, it seems a bit odd to give up on him so soon.

That one reminds me of Gateshead shirts from the mid 90s http://www.oldfootballshirts.com/img/shirts/1022/thumbs/football_shirt_3201_1_600x560x0.jpghttp://www.oldfootballshirts.com/img/shirts/1022/thumbs/football_shirt_3210_1_600x560x0.jpg That one may not be too bad with the Virgin Money logo on and getting rid of the white area and continuing the stripes behind it.

They're "emergency loans", 1 month at a time with a maximum of 3 months allowed. I guess the flexibility is good for both clubs, especially with Airey being in his last 6 months of his deal? Maybe Newcastle wan't him to go out for 1 month, get some form, then go to a league club to see if he's worth a new deal? From our point of view, I think it's mainly down to cover for injuries. Whatever the reasons, if he scores goals whilst on loan it's win-win for both clubs. It was, but now is planned for the start of the season after next (2013/14). Basically the design is with sustainability in mind, in that the main stand has a load of office space in it, and the long term rent from that office space will help partially fund the club each season. http://www.gateshead-fc.com/content/Image/stadium/New_Stadium_2.jpg http://www.gateshead-fc.com/new-stadium The delay is because it took the club a while to get a good tenant in place for the office space who'd take it on a long contract (something like 20 years I'd guess), the tenant they had lined up was the NHS Primary Care Trust, then of course the recession and the Tory Government came in and they scrapped the PCTs, so it pretty much scuppered that and was back to square one looking for a long term tenant. The latest news on it is that club have now found a new tenant and are in the process of getting organised with them. So in the next 2-3 months they should be in place to go forward with it, fingers crossed.

We've signed Phil Airey on-loan from you for a month, goes straight into the squad for tomorrow's home match with Lincoln City. Seen him a couple of times for Newcastle reserves, looked promising, so should hopefully cover well up front with the injuries we have to Shaw, Hatch & Fisher.

There's certainly plenty of spare seats at both grounds :'(

The helicopter was oot before. No idea if it was for that, The helicopter was to guide in the Gateshead buses. Not sure why people thought there would be trouble, there's actually very little history between the sides, but Gateshead seem particularly averse to all things green and white. And Blyth aren't averse to anything Gateshead, to the extent where they started the rivalry in the first place back in the early 90s when they turned up to cheer on Telford against Gateshead in the FA Trophy? ...Anyway, I'm glad to be through to the 2nd round and looking forward to the draw. That Shaw looks like a pretty solid non-league player like. Won absolutely everything today. The Shaw/Brittain combo over the last 2 years has been brilliant for us. Brits has the best crossing ability of anyone in non-league and Shaw is an old fashioned style centre forward who's great in the box (especially with his head).

Gateshead have added some places as to where you can get tickets for Saturday's match:
-
If anyone wants to come to the Blyth match next Saturday, the tickets go on general sale at Gateshead Stadium's ticket office (next to the main entrance) on Monday 7th Nov from 5pm to 8pm.

Urrgh, not a good draw with the bad blood between the two clubs/sets of fans. They also have a lot of players we've released in the last couple of years, who'll have a point to prove. Still, if we give a good account of ourselves and play to our potential, then hopefully it'll be enough
-
Gateshead made hard work of it today, especially in the 1st half. But upped the tempo in the second and ran out 3-0 winners. FA Cup 1st Round draw is on ITV at 1:30pm tomorrow, hopefully a good draw for us.
-
Both Alnwick & Henderson played the full 90 minutes for us on Saturday as we thankfully got back to winning ways at Telford United. Alnwick made a couple of good saves and looked composed with his handling, and Henderson was solid at the back alongside James Curtis. Next up is the FA Cup 4th Round Qualifier at home to Hebburn on Saturday, hopefully we don't take them lightly. Highlights - AFC Telford United 1 Gateshead 2 <Football vids not allowed, sorry - BlueStar>
-
Alnwick played well last night, made some good saves and came to get most high balls. As for the match, n/c.
-
Here's the highlights from Saturday's 1-0 win, including Henderson's goal. Ebbsfleet United v. Gateshead (8.10.11)
-
Henderson played well today. Started a little shakey, but quickly found his feet and scored a cracking header. Ebbsfleet weren't the greatest, so will be a much tougher test at Luton next Saturday. Hopefully he'll have another solid game.

Fair enough, we hear that one a lot. But bottom line is modern football is a rip off. We're one of the cheapest in the Conference, with places like Luton, Darlington, Lincoln amongst others charging £18 on the day. Shocking defensive display from us last night. What sort of crowd do the others get though? Fair enough if they all got the same as Gateshead but if its much more then theres a justification that the price/demand is fair enough. Havent seen Heeds attendances this season mind but it was usually about 500 wasnt it in previous years? We're averaging 1018 at the minute. Of the £18 chargers, Luton are averaging 5943, Grimsby 3046, Lincoln 2141, Darlington 1909. I personally think a lot of it has to do with how non-league clubs are viewed in the north-east. It's different in other areas of the country, but I'd say your general person on the street doesn't really understand the difference between the level say Whitley/Ashington/Bedlington etc play (Northern League) and Gateshead play (They'd have to get promoted 4 times to play in the Conference, the same as Gateshead would to play Newcastle & Sunderland in the Premier League), it's all just non-league to them. Hopefully with Gateshead doing well over the next few years, and the local media starting to pay more attention, things will change on that front for us.

So does that mean the premier league will look to get around this ruling by putting their logo on all the feeds they put out, therefore allowing them to maintain how and to who the foreign providers distribute?

We face Wrexham at home tonight (7:45pm) in a top of the table clash. We lost both centre-backs (Curtis & Clark) on Saturday through injury, and had 2 points stolen by the referee when he decided a penalty needed retaking because Farman was an inch off his line. Wrexham have a couple suspended and injured. Gateshead FC 1-1 Tamworth FC

If anyone's at a loose end Tuesday night and fancies some football, Gateshead are playing York in a top(ish) of the table clash at the International Stadium (7:45pm). They play an expansive/attacking style of football similar to ours, so it'll be an interesting game and a test of how just far we've come. They usually bring about 500 fans up for the match too, so should be a good atmosphere.

Jak Alnwick has joined Gateshead on-loan http://www.gateshead-fc.com/3568/magpies-keeper-joins-on-loan Is he any good?
