  1. Sorry for the spam, I realise at this point that this thread is basically my own little quizzing office at the moment, but:

It seems a bit unfair that the Runners-Up should get their stake back but the Finalists, should they not find a Pointless answer, get nothing.

So what I'm suggesting is, going forward: should the Finalists win, they get their jackpot and the Runners-Up get their stake back. But if the Finalists lose, nobody gets anything.

As it happens, tonight, benevolently, our Runners-Up (Gorilla and Eran), were happy to put their 'winnings' back into the pot.

Agree Yorkie. Also as said to you, I'm considering making one quiz as well to help you out.

  2. It was John Helm and Joe Royle during in the early/mid 2000s Waffa Cup era.

Channel 5/1990s Jonathan Pearce was proper wild. He's nowt like this now:

Man this match in Zagreb is one of the most saddest in their history.

Whenever I say that I support Newcastle, they just shrug their shoulders and say "Ketsbaia"...

  3. Fucking Mitrovic, man. Just can't be trusted.

If it wasn't for Mitrovic, Serbia couldn't even be in a position to qualify. It happens.

If I had to choose a country to qualify over Serbia, I'd choose Scotland in a heartbeat.

I still remember the qualifier in 2013, I think, when Tartan Army came to Serbia to support their team. Just before the match, a ton of snow fell and officials were thinking of postponing the match. Those lovely Scottish bastards entered the pitch during the day in their kilts, grabbed shovels and cleaned up every bit of snow, so the game wasn't called off.

Serbia won 2-0, the Scots sang their lungs off, drank a month's production of beer, donated some money into charity and fucked off.  :smitten:

Crazy story. Even though I would have liked to see Croatia v Serbia on EURO, you are right about Scotland. Happy for them also to reach the major tournament after 1998 I believe.

  4. Hi guys, I just spoke to LFEE about one idea and wanted to make one proposal for the quiz.

Since I'm software developer and recently had been working on a project of mine for e-exams, I came to an idea to potentially use it and make a spin-off platform for NUFC quizzes.

You could register on the platform, play the quiz with the countdown timer and the system could calculate the percentage of your correct responses with at the end displaying the list of the best performers.

Of course, there is nothing to pay, for me it would be nice to play the quiz that way and to test the platform for any bugs/suggestions.

Would it be interesting to set up something like this?

  5. Look  you guys are entitled to your opinion and you've all come on here and expressed your sadness for Owen.

Well I don't share your feelings and so I expressed mine. I am not sold on his committment to the club at all and he was clearly playing it safe to make sure he was fit for England as that was his first priority. The main reason he left Madrid was to supposedly get enough games leading up to the World Cup. He has been obsessing over this for over a year now, which is fair enough but he also had a responsibility to his club and for me he didn't fulfil it period.

Maybe you feel he did, but I don't. Simple as that really.

Let's wait and see how things develop from here on out.

Well done KaKa for standing up your opinion... its funny to read other people's posts. Ironically this whole thread is like a karma to all those posters who criticized you.

  6. I decided to finally listen to the TF podcast post Arsenal that had Luke Edwards as the featured guest. So let me say this first and foremost, most of us are not privy to the off the record stuff the local press hears, so I can understand that there are interpretations of those comments, body language etc. but one thing I can’t seem to understand guys like Edwards can’t get their head around is that Rafa has ultimately said one of the main reasons he left for his Chinese club is that the owner, chairman etc all absolutely wanted Rafa and his staff and spent ages courting him. They paid whatever it took to get him, they listen to him, they have ambitious plans for their club that a self professed football addict like Rafa would love, they consult him on those long and short term plans, and most importantly they trust and value him as the elite world class football manager that he has proven to be over his illustrious career.

So compare that to the Championship season January transfer window and onwards; fucked about on Andros, Ashley pulls 30m out of the club, slow transfers and not much to spend each window, fucked about on Rondon, ages to sign Almiron - supposed control he had looks like only words on a paper. He can only essentially veto deals but can’t push his targets through. Wage structure piss poor. Sees colleagues in the PL getting more than he does in terms of football investment. He says he needs improvements to academy and training ground - it’s not up to standards of a football club like NUFC in the PL and he’s told it’s adequate. This is from a glorified accountant turned Chairman and an owner of a horrendous retail umbrella company.  There is no trust. There is no value. There is no respect for one of UEFA’s elite coaches, there is no gratitude that this man has got you PL football back and turns profits on your speculative acquisitions. Each summer we don’t invest into the first team we’re losing ground, Rafa thought. He wanted this club to fly high and be a top 6 club again and had a plan to get it there over a few years.... yet Rafa is to blame for going for “money?” Ha!

This should be framed and put in front of SJP

  7. You want complete contradictins from the past too?

Back in 2009 when he was Sunderland boss, Bruce said:

"Managing Newcastle has never been my dream. This opportunity at Sunderland has everything I want – the infrastructure, the fanbase, an ambitious chairman and an ambitious new owner.

“I don’t need anything else – I have everything here. Everything you look for as a manager is here at Sunderland.”
