  1. 7 groups of 4. Then only 2 best 3rd placed teams. Less likely teams settle for 3rd if it's a 2 in 7 rather than 2 in 3 chance.

Would get rid of the Play Offs too.

This is actually a very good idea. Keeps the 4-team group and makes 3rd place hard to achieve if teams want to settle for 3rd. More importantly increases number of teams from 24 to 28 which UEFA would welcome and its more fair than the current system.

  2. Molde's match against Dinamo Zagreb was something else. Three penalties (two missed), red card and all kinds of f***ing shenanigans and still they managed to claw back to 3-3 from 0-3 down. For shame they couldn't pull off the full comeback

Lol I watched that game. It was hilarious. Michael Oliver pointing 3 times to the spot for Molde with 2 misses. Plus red card and Molde even deserved to go through...

  3. I'm from Croatia and everyone is disgusted at what happened in Milan. We seem to have this small group of "fans" whose sole aim is to travel somewhere and make disturbance, so its our FA which is letting this happen (not banning particular fans who have history of doing disturbance) plus lack of security at the stadium when they all should know that our "fans" will try to bring in flares and stuff...

Where in Croatia are you from?

    Zagreb

Are you still supporting Croatian national team?

Are you supporting Dinamo and Rijeka in Europe?

Are you following news from Croatian league, FA, national team etc. day-by-day or only read few times in year about this?

    Yeah

Not quite, I only support Newcastle :D

    Yeah, im following news day-by-day

Fans disturbance is ongoing problem in Croatian football but it amazes me how it hasn't been dealt with already. Its a really deep issue and it does affect all responsible figures at Croatian FA with huge influence of people like Dinamo Zagreb's owner who is one of the biggest "enemies" to Croatian fans.

  5. Benfica 2-0 Porto. Top of the league.

Amazing scenes Bruno! Would've loved to come back to Lisboa once again and watch Benfica... watched Sporting though - also an amazing atmosphere ;)

  6. Arsenal - lack a plan B and only one striker.

Man City - probably the only team playing as they should be (crap early away form excepted).

Chelsea - Mourinho not looking as invincible as he once was.

Liverpool - looking good tbf, but are they a flash in the pan?

Spurs - Sherwood appointment has the potential to be an absolute disaster.

Man United - Any further from the title pace and their season could really implode.

Everton - With all due respect, I don't particularly see them as our rivals.

    Open as f***.

Depends on our fitness and injuries we pick up in 2nd half of season. I think we will finish 7th or 8th. Surely your taking the p*ss about Everton :)

Everton are really extraordinary this season...and not only they should be highly considered for top 4, but I do believe with their two next home games they could have 40 points after 19 games and potentialy be first on the table on new years which would send a strong message...

They have lost only one game, that alone says a lot about that team.

  7. I'm a bit shocked that Simunic is still playing anyway tbh.

    Oh well, deserved. c***.

I think that punishment is way too harsh... He can't even speak Croatian properly (being born in Australia and spending most of his life outside Croatia) let alone deliberately discriminate people with some strange popular fan's chant.

And even the chant has such ambigious meaning... Anyway, that was one of the stupidest ways of finishing your international career.

Wasn't the chant used by the fascist movement in WW2 that played their part in sending many Jews, Serbs and Romans to their deaths? Doesn't sound like the kind of thing that should be still used as a football chant whether by fans or players.

I was actually curious as well cos I heard so many theories so I checked on wiki: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Za_dom_spremni

they explanied it good I think and there you can see multiple origins of that phrase...

but regardless of that, Šimunić knew that most people don't like that chant but he used it mostly because he believes its not a fascist chant...

Anyway, I was shocked he did say it and I was shocked by the severity of his punishment as well...

  9. I don't think our situation is as bad as some people make it. We are 10 games into, with 4 wins (Fulham, Aston Villa, Cardiff City, Chelsea) with 2 draws (West Ham, Liverpool) and 4 lost games (Manchester City, Hull City, Everton, Sunderland). With 14 points in total and languishing in 9th position we are very much still in the game for big stuff but we could be in the game for bad stuff down the table. For me, November is the month which will actually show enourmous picture of our season. Traditionally around this time of the season (November-early December) we have lost so many points in the past and checking actual results I came up with these stats:

    Last season (2012/2013)

    NOVEMBER:

    Liverpool (A) 1-1        DREW

    West Ham (H) 0-1      LOST

    Swansea (H)  1-2      LOST

    Southampton (A) 0-2  LOST

    Stoke City(A) 1-2        LOST

    EARLY DECEMBER

    Wigan (H) 3-0          WON

    Fulham (A) 1-2        LOST

    Man.City(H) 1-3      LOST

    Total: 4/24 points

    Season 2011/2012

    NOVEMBER

    Everton (H) 2-1    WON

    Man.City(A) 3-1    LOST

    Man.Utd(A) 1-1    DREW

    EARLY DECEMBER

    Chelsea (H) 0-3  LOST

    Norwich (A) 2-4  LOST

    Swansea (H) 0-0  DREW

    WBA (H)  2-3      LOST

    Total: 5/21 points

    Season 2010/2011

    NOVEMBER

    Arsenal (A) 1-0      WON

    Blackburn (H) 1-2  LOST

    Fulham (H) 0-0      DREW

    Bolton (A) 1-5      LOST

    Chelsea (H) 1-1    DREW

    EARLY DECEMBER

    WBA (A)  1-3        LOST

    Total: 5/18 points

Looking at these results it shows that we have collected arguably the least points in this period of season than in other periods of the respective seasons. Especially when we have 2 home games in a row (which we will have this season as well in November) we have failed to register a win - drawing 2 and losing 4 against opposition against we were the favourites to win).

Our fixtures for November and early December this season looks like this:

    NOVEMBER

    Chelsea (H) 2-0  WON

    Tottenham (A)

    Norwich (H)    ***** for me

    WBA (H)        ***** crucial games

    EARLY DECEMBER

    Swansea (A)

    Man.Utd (A)

    Southampton (H)
