  1. I absolutely adore KK and think the East Stand should be named after him but we need to go for a progressive coach like Nagelsmann or Poch. Assuming this is all real and if they had any sense, KK would be an advisor.

  2.

Carl Cort's finish at home to Everton in the 6-2 was underrated.

Yeah it was truly delicious, boy was outstanding at the end of the 00/01 season. Sad at how his career turned out.

  3. I know plenty on here have been around Europe and further afield watching some random games so was just looking for a bit help regarding tickets in Germany. I'm going to head to Dusseldorf in March for a long weekend and the way the fixtures have worked, it looks like I'll be able to take in 3 games:

    15.03.19 - B. M'Gladbach v Freiburg

    16.03.19 - Schalke v Leipzig

    17.03.19 - Leverkusen v Werder Bremen

Has anyone been to any of those grounds, and how easy/difficult is it to get hold of tickets? I've looked on Schalke website for the Saturday game and it's saying I'm restricted (presumably members etc first).

Not been to any of those but have been to Dortmund and going again in a few weeks. I've been on Schalke's website in the past and have seen tickets on general sale. BVB have a page which tells you which dates tickets go on general sale, maybe Schalke do as well. The advantage of these tickets is that you get free travel on trams, buses, metro, regional trains (basically everything apart from the high speed trains) until 3am the following morning, so free to get from Düsseldorf and back.

The issue with Leverkusen is that you wouldn't have free travel from Dusseldorf as they come under different transport regimes. Don't know about Gladbach.

  4. I went to his talk at the Cheltenham Literature Festival a few days ago and he was engaging as you'd expect and hilarious. So many people had come down from Newcastle and Liverpool which tells you all you need to know about the man. I had to wait over 2 hours to get my book and 95/97 home shirt signed but it's only because he made sure to speak to each punter for a good length of time. When it was my turn, I told him that I'm from India so he counted to 10 in Hindi which I thought was super cool, he signed my shirt and we took a picture as if I was a new signing. Genuinely a great moment for me and it was astounding that he retained such a positive attitude for hours on end despite all the pictures and conversations.

  5. Was it not a thing in the old Championship Managers where if you went down, the health and safety would close down one of your stands? Would be absolutely creased if it was forced on them.

  6.                           Darlow

    Yedlin.    Lascellas.  Clark.    Dummett

                              Hayden

                Shelvey.              Merino

          Ritchie.        Gayle.    Atsu

Subs: Woodman, Manquillo, Mbemba, Murphy, Diame, Joselu, Perez

    Thoughts?

What are the full stops after some of the players supposed to represent?

Can't help thinking these stats are like goalkeepers in s*** teams being lauded for making loads of saves.

    Still, nice to see. :D

The next 6 players below him are from the Top 3 teams.....

That's kinda the point I was making.

Of course his stats on how many times he's twatted it away from goal are better than players at teams that don't concede so many chances.

But then players from other poor teams should be below him in that list instead of players from teams at the top - that stat highlights how much better he was than other defenders outside the absolute elite.

  9. "The club outlined that it is in a long-term relationship with its kit manufacturer, PUMA. The club also confirmed that kits had been selected for next season, with an order to be placed shortly on kits for the following 2018/19 campaign, due to the required lead times."

This interests me because this suggests that it wasn't the Premier League stopping us from having full stripes on the back like we do this season but just Puma being difficult. Hopefully they've seen the positive reaction from this season and continue with this - with Wonga gone, shirt sales could be through the roof.

  10. Just finished Uli Hesse's Bayern - love them or hate them, they have a fascinating history and the section on their survival during the 30s and 40s is absorbing. This is a really good follow up to Tor and I love his writing style, the only other writer who matches him for me is Caulkin. A book on Dortmund is next, due for release in the summer of 2018 and this should be gripping as they're the team of his heart.
