This is the key really, the solution to the first problem is to have a whole end standing, four separate corners is too piecemeal. You'd need a rebuild or a move to make that many change seats though and that's if the club even care enough to do it. More controversially, the solution to the second problem is organised support with megaphones and drums.

Using the drum as an excuse for people not singing is a bit pathetic like, it's not like it stops anyone else from making noise, home fans in the Bundesliga aren't silenced when the away fans turn up with a drum. The away fans being above the home fans in the Leazes might make it more of a problem but while it made singing more difficult against PSG it didn't stop us completely.
