The significant thing about the lack of depth is that after 65 minutes and because we play at such a high intensity with our pressing game, the front 6 are completely gassed.

When you look at the bench and you can't replicate that same level of intensity with the likes of Wood and Murphy, it's an issue. Once we get another RW/AM in (like has been touted), it will be a huge plus bringing the likes of Almiron and Willock off the bench with the levels of pressing they show.

  2. tbf I thought Miggy did well yesterday - his biggest achilles heel is his finishing. Just lacks composure but I thought he was our best player until he was taken off.  That being said I would definitely start Elliot over Fraser, you cannot know his work rate but he lacks end product.  Elliot just looks so much more composed on the ball and more likely to make things happen.  I know Eddie likes to bed players in but he looks ready now to start imo.

Again, it's not VAR, it's the incompetent morons operating it.  VAR has the potential to ge a great asset but its like giving me Facebook, I can look at it and press some buttons but haven't got a clue how to use it

The issue is 'how' they use it as well as 'who' is operating in.

For a start it is meant to be used when there has been a 'clear and obvious error' but they seem to check everything forensically.  If it's not obvious straight away it is NOT a clear and obvious error.  It then goes down to 'opinion' and that's not it's purposes.  In those circumtances the on field decision should stand.

Secondly those running VAR should NOT be ex-referee's - it is impossible to take bias out of their equation.  They all work together so it will affect decision making.  They need to be people specifically trained in the role, much like Referees are trained in theirs but keeping the two seperate.  Those running VAR have to be totally impartial.

Jan will be even harder to sign players. I think we've squandered a massive chance to move forward quickly. We'll have to wait till next summer now to see a real impact. It's blatant the PL are doing their best to clip our wings on and off the pitch, the only way we can fight back is by being so much better than we are now, leaving no doubt of the win. Any fine margin games we're not winning, they'll see to it.

I don't think it was the lack of trying in the Summer - though I also don't think the club expected to be shunned as much in the loan market.  Yes it will be harder to bring in the right players in Jan but I think we've proved that it can be done.

Ekitike’s racked up 35 mins of football so far this season. At his age you need to be playing games as much as possible, merde

What did he expect? It's not like he's shifting Mbappe, Neymar or Messi anytime soon.

Sky are getting stuck into VAR after a day of pretty shocking decisions.

If you give a moron a computer, they're still a moron. The standard of officiating is the problem, not the technology.

It needs scrapping - Those in stockley park can turn a decision which ever way they want without accountability.  In a billion pound game that is far too much power for someone to have.

Honestly thought VAR would help because decisions would be plain to see for everyone. How wrong I was.

I thought it was for clear and obvious errors - there was nothing clear and obvious about the off-side for Iasks second goal. It was impossible to tell so goal should have been given - advantage to the attacker.  And the goal today, what is the obvious error?  It is high time the Referees are more accountable for their decisions and explain them to the media.

  8. I've not heard one commentator that could explain why our goal didn't stand today.  I think an independent investigation is in order - football is a billion pound business and referees have way too much power now to influence results. Referees should have to explain to the camera after the match why they disallowed a goal - if they did I guarantee this would have been given today.

Looking forward to the Merseyside Derby. An absolutely appalling referee decision in the first 5 mins to overheat things please.

A draw would be a nice result- bar that Everton win. Wipe that smile off Klopps face.
