How has this happened? Everyone was ready to jack the club in a few weeks ago. To be honest it's still Rafa or bust for me, if they manage to mess up keeping him then I'll still support the club, but I won't go to games. I'm half expecting them to say that Wonga have p*ssed off as well, just to put the icing on the cake.Really tempted to get a season ticket if he stays, thing is I don't know what my timetable will be like for next year.
I'm tempted to just bite the bullet and sell my tickets to any games I can't go too.
Me too.
Cause keeping Rafa would be as close to winning the league for us. After all the chaff we've had to put up with we are close to somehow getting, not only a World Class manager but one who seems a genuinely nice guy. In the short time he has been at the club my estimation of him has gone up 1000000000%. Been so impressed.

Quite a few at work are saying the same - be unheard of - relegation increasing season ticket numbers
-
This is the strangest relegation in history
Personally I think if Rafa stays it could be a blessing in disguise. He holds all the cards now and it's up to Ashley to convince him to stay by giving him FULL control. Could be the start of something - FINALLY.

£6m for De Jong
He'll be loaned back to the Dutch league and we'll never see him again.
4M for Riviere.
-
Cracking goal mind.
..and assist for Janmaats
-
Totally missed the foul at the match but seen it now - idiot.

I prefer to draw my conclusions from an entire appalling season rather than one meaningless afternoon like. Glad everyone enjoyed cheering on a group of players, and an entire club, who haven't given the slightest f*** about them all season though.
Focus of today was one man - Rafa. His name was sang from start to finish - today was great because 52,000 put all their effort in begging him to stay.

ON SSN now that Ashley has met Benitez. Come on Mike get begging.
-
We need Rafa in more than Ashley out. We will NEVER do better than Rafa where as we could get just as bad an owner. So B.

Imagine Neil Warnock

The fact Ashley described Benitez as formidable says something. I dont think Ashleys so slow that he cannot understand a champions league winning manager, who's won elsewhere & is highly reputed isnt the best person to lead. I just think he constantly prefers to risk trying to get good results via cheaper means than getting someone more proven.
The key is whether the new money in the premier league, dictates that Ashley understands the need to stop risking saving money on cheaper less demanding managers who dont care about full control. The larger money in general balances out his whole need for buying cheaper players to make money on, cheaper managers etc & i think we've seen that sway already.
Am hoping if Leicester showed him one thing it's the value of having a decent manager.

Ugh. Great interview but I just don't trust f***ing Charnley not to balls it up.
Rafa was positive about his talks with Charnley so he seems to be doing OK at this point.
Charnley could just be lying through his teeth though. You are that quote from Shearer above, they're scumbags.
Lets not forget Keegan - they have form.
-
That interview was really positive.
Sounds like it's down to Charnley - he'll mess it up
I'm not sue Charnley will have the bottle to balls it up. The atmosphere at the match tomorrow could be crucial.
Agreed.

Benitez said: “If I’m here and discussing it, it’s because there is a chance, we have to keep talking.” #nufc
Dat hope.
Hope he's not just waiting to see what other offers come in
-
Rafa Benitez's Press conference was POSITIVE but sounds like the ball is well and truly in #nufc 's court.
So much for SSN
-
There is pictures of him on Twitter arriving at the Press Conference (5 mins ago); but nothing from anyone yet. Wonder if the press are being briefed first. Odd.
maybe being told what they can/can't ask
-
Still waiting for it start
-
And he might not want to.
Or Ashley might not want to....
-
Worth reminding you all he drives a lamborgini. Doesn't f***ing deserve a nissan micra.

Only 12 weeks till the season starts

mitro out. never gonna be prolific even in the championship.
He's the perfect foil for Armstrong.
-
Honestly couldn't muster enthusiasm at all under any other manager now.
Same.
-
Doesn't appear to include the word 'resignation' or a variant of it anywhere.
Charnley just leave and turn the lights off on your way out.

I'm the same - all I care about is getting results and if he plays like he did on Sunday we're a better team with him in.
