Sheikh Monsour isn't liked to Man City board so why are the PL insisting MBS is? Because they don't want this deal to happen (because of the big six) and they know PIF would never agree to it. It stinks of corruption.
-
The premier League only want MBS to undergo the test or be listed as a director so they can fail it. Still corruption of the highest order, bein other pl teams & who knows who else still get their own way.
They want to link PIF to the state so they can then link PIF to the piracy - and then fail it on that. Without that link PIF have nothing to do with the piracy issues. If you look up the owners of Man City there is no mention of sheikh mansour - please can members of Nust press Master's on this- why they pressing to link PIF to the state when they didn't do the same to Man City. Saw mail reckoned it was because of Portsmouth but that's a load of rubbish- we've clear owners here.
-
What does state interference even mean? It's a football club for heavens sake.
And how does it differ from Man City?
-
The TV rights is nothing to do with the delay - it’s the make up of PIF and influence of MBS.
Which is easily solved and will be solved.
I don't see how that could affect it. Surely the privacy issue is the main reason for the hold up.
-
It's not about legal cases or who is responsible for enforcing rights. It's about what BeIN and other rights holders would think.
If the PL allowed the Saudis in, then BeIN would rightly feel that the PL are not protecting their rights, supporting piracy, and would say "well why should we bid again next time round?". Not just BeIN, but others might think the same too in case the PL do the same to them.
Let's not confuse PIF with Saudi Arabia- PIF is a company in its own right, much as BEIN is in Qatar. If you start liking them to their state then for me you start to question whether BEIN are fit to broadcast the Premier League. It is widely accepted that they bought the World Cup, corruption at the highest level. How is that a good image for the Premier League? Its not they've turned a blind eye for the ££££. The hypocrisy of it all is ridiculous. The PL should treat PIF as it has BEIN a separate company and get this approved.

I'm a bit cynical about this MP stuff... Just keeping their constituents happy, easy PR win.
PR is what we want though. That last letter is straight and to the point.
-
That's their only suggestion in improving VAR?
-
Having said all I've said, the Premier League's complete lack of communication since the Saudis "pulled out" is obviously a complete joke mind and I don't understand why they have chosen to remain completely silent
Because he probably has no valid reason for it to take so long.
-
Just ducking to answer any question. Did they not ask him if he's had any pressure to go a certain direction from a state?

Anyone doubting the influence of top 6 clubs on this process really need to read this article. In short we are not paranoid to believe other clubs notably the top 6, will have lobbied heavily in this process.
The bid was doomed from the start
-
Not read that. No idea.
Kinda supports the logic, though. If they think they're not independent, they're asking the person who they believe to be in charge to put themselves forward. Actually I think that strengthens my beliefs, personally.
No mention of sheikh mansour on the Man City board of directors, when we all know he owns the club

Wow really?
Hopefully they get called out on that

Just saw this on Youtube.
Fucking glorious. He's not changed
Still depresses me we ended up with him as our manager after Rafa

My personal opinion is that PIF are a lot more to blame than the PL for the takeover failing to happen. The Saudi's appear to have been typically stubborn, condescending and unhelpful throughout the process. I think Slater's article in the athletic is probably an accurate summary of what happened, because of the open stealing of IP neither PIF or SA were ever going to pass the O&D test. The fact that they wouldn't acknowledge any wrong just made it easier not to say yes.
That's my feeling as well. Premier League aren't blameless, and their handling of the situation (particularly communication) has been awful, but they aren't the main reason this failed. The Saudis have made it impossible to wave through at almost every step, every time it seemed close something new came out.
All PL had to do was say - FAIL for that reason. But no....they sat quiet for 4 months. PL are totally to blame for this farce.

I still don't understand why MBS didn't put the pressure on Boris earlier? Surely if we need SA so much it wouldn't take much effort getting him involved.
Because MBS probably isn’t directly involved in this. PIF yes and I’m sure he takes credit for their successes but that’s all down to Yassir Al-Rumayyan.
Ok fair enough, but surely at the stage we're at now he's obviously aware of what's going on it wouldn't be hard for him to get in contact with Boris and have a discussion.
Then again I know fuck all about politics.
If he did get involved wouldn't that be playing into the hands of the PL who were basically accusing PIF of being the State?

That petition has just hit the 14,000 mark. Seems to have gained a little traction.
I admire those trying, but it'll achieve nothing.
Spot light needs to be shone on PL - the organisation doesn't have enough transparency. He should have to answer for his actions.
