  1. Can we refrain from bumping this and the Tiote thread until the window's closed? Always fearful when I see new posts.

You'd best stay off twitter - rumours have started doing the rounds saying we've accepted a bid for him :jones:

  2. Spoken to the Box Office today and they've said there are two more batches to be sent out (Tomorrow and Thursday) - If your ticket hasn't arrived then, contact them. :)

Doesnt give us much time if it's not arrived by Thursday  :o

  3. Not sure if this has been posted - but on talksport Philip Auclair mentioned that there was quite a low release clause in Debuchy's contract, but when he played for France in the Euro's that another clause got activated which increased the amount they'd have to pay to activate it.  And he thinks this could be the sticking point.

  4. I think sometimes people forget he is still pretty much unproven in the Premier League.  He's barey played a full season. Yes he is English but value for money still has to come into the equation.  What are you getting for 15 mil? You can't say goals.

  5. I disagree that it seems desperate. It seems anything but to me. Merely chancing our arm, but with plenty other options out there to explore.

If we get Carrol do you really think there will be another striker through the door?  We need a player who fits in our current system and can cover for Ba/Cisse when they leave for the African Nations Cup.  If we get Carrol we'll have change our style completely to fit in with him.

    That is my concern.

  6. VERY surprised but this....just doesn't make sense.

a.) He does not suit our style of play which was so effective last season

b.) Yes he adds something different but if he were to come you'd hope he'd be plan B - that then begs the question what would be the point of him coming - plus Ameobi plays that role well atm

c.) Isn't the type of player we need - yes De Jong move has collapsed - but surely they had other strikers lined up?

It all just seems rather desperate. :joey:

Arsenal warned Newcastle star will cost them £20m

By Warren Haughton | Thursday, July 5, 2012

Arsenal are keen on Newcastle midfielder Cheick Tiote, but refuse to stump up £20million.

Tiote, who joined Newcastle from Dutch side FC Twente in 2010 for a bargain £3.5million, has earned rave reviews in the North East and signed a new long-term deal last year.

That tied him to St James' Park to 2017 but Gunners boss Arsene Wenger still hopes to land Tiote as he attempts to appease unrest among the Emirates faithful, who are set to see another star in Robin Van Persie leave the club this summer.

The North London side, however, will have to move quickly steal a march on Manchester United and Chelsea, who are also on the trail of the Ivory Coast star.

Chelsea are long-time admirers of Tiote, while it’s been an open secret that Sir Alex Ferguson has been looking to add to his midfield options.

All three clubs have baulked at the £20m price tag placed on him but Arsenal hope to tempt Newcastle into selling him for a much lower figure.

And how would they do that? By offering sexual favours?

    What a pathetic article.

They'll hoy in a player they don't want any more as part of the deal.

    Ok we'll take RVP
