It would happen to most, you'd think. They've literally won half of every competition they've entered over the last seven years, there can't be much left to feel.

The way the rules are atm I can't see that changing anytime soon either.  Financially they are just in a different stratosphere to every other club.

Newcastle are among the top suitors in the hunt and Magpies recruitment chief Steve Nickson has even travelled to Italy in recent months to watch the all-action Brazilian in the flesh. Ederson is likely viewed as a possible replacement for compatriot Bruno Guimaraes, who has a £100m release clause that expires on June 30.

Interestingly, departing sporting director Dan Ashworth was key to Newcastle's initial interest and amid Eddie Howe's fears is that Ashworth could capitalise on transfer intel in his new role at Manchester United - once the ongoing ugly legal dispute is finally resolved.

Tonali coming back in and a quality right winger being signed will be so massive for this team.

I personally think we are going to be a force next season.

That right side has been an issue with Longstaff and Almiron just not being reliable enough performance wise.

These are the last key pieces of our first 11, and I think the difference will be very noticeable.

Howe has already laid the foundations and established a great team culture and framework. Sorting those two positions will take us to the next level.

I cannot see us finishing outside the top 4 and certainly not outside the top 6 and there is a strong likelihood we win a cup IMO.

I would like to see DM come in to allow Bruno to get further forward.

In case any one wants to watch this absolute shitshow (not available on NUFC TV, strangely)

Well that was a painful watch :howe: it could/should have been 10-0.  Did we even have a shot?

I think the club has underestimated how much of a hamstring FFP is to some extent. The reality is that we're going to have a first 11 that I'd wager could be top 4, but that for a good chunk of each season we're going to have players that potentially aren't at that level.

I'm happy with Howe establishing top 6 with some European competition each year.

That being said, with Chelsea, Liverpool, spurs and maybe Man U all having new managers next season, plus Villa stretched,  it would be nice to try and take advantage O0

FFP has really put the brakes on our evolution - atm our squad is so lopsided with regardless quality.  This summer is huge for Eddie as he needs to get players out to bring more quality in.  It is a mystery as to how much we are actually able to spend.

I don’t think being disappointed about the season is at all knee jerk or half empty glass.  We’ve emotionally been put through it a bit this year and after the highs of last year it’s hard to take.

    We’ve had:

    - tonali ban

    - injuries

    - champions league draw

    - dodgy last minute penalty agains psg

    - losing against Liverpool against 10 men when a player who can’t score finds 10 minutes of form

    - being half an hour or so from champions league group qualification to lose it then also miss out on going into the uefa cup

    - league cup draw

    - fa cup draw

    - being minutes away from getting though against Chelsea to lose on penalties

    - losing director of football

    - new director of football turning us down

    - thinking we would get Europe not getting Europe as city lose their first game in 30 odd

    - no sponsorship deals

    - no news on new training ground

    - no news on st James

Next year I’d just like a bit of luck.  Not losing any big names.  Some decent signings and not losing out on our targets.  Some progress off the field. And something to celebrate.

Lets not forget the odd plus:

    -Adidas as new shirt sponsor

    -Gordon flourishing

    -Emergence Of Miley

-Newcastle hammering PSG (what a night)

    -Joelinton Signing new contract
