I'm not saying we won't lose any of them because if course it's possible, but wasn't this exact line being peddled in January.

Bruno apparently had too much ambition to stay at a club without Europe, or something like that.

There was always the risk Bruno could leave this Summer - even Isak but thankfully it didn't happen.  But you got to expect they'll want to play in the CL - these are elite players.  I am not saying we can't do it - but the lack of any meaningful investment in the squad hasn't helped us when the likes of Spurs, Liverpool, Villa, Man U, Chelsea, Arsenal, Brighton, West Ham have all strengthened.  Our net spend this summer is -30m.

Positives - we haven't lost yet, kept Isak, Bruno, Gordon. Hall and Livramento hopefully progress this season, Tonali back and Kelly will hopefully be a decent player. Dummet and Ritchie can't play anymore and few promising younger players might get a chance. Less games this year so hopefully more of squad available.

Negatives - centre backs are limited and hurt our play without Schar there, Right side of midfield/Right wing looks shit but Tonali will help, Few injuries away from being in trouble. Team looks short of ideas/ability to press or even hold onto the ball but early in season.

Double Negatives - we lose Isak, Bruno and Gordon when we fail to get in the CL

Assuming no injury crisis it’s at least as strong as the team that finished 4th, isn’t it?

We have to take into account the other teams have strengthened.  Surely we can't think the players we brought in are on par with the players we have shipped out?

Anderson is average and would've been something like sixth choice CM, and we haven't lost a thing in Minteh cos he wasn't here last season (or ever).

We've brought by in Kelly and Osula. That at the very least evens us out, doesn't it? If you're being unkind. I'd argue that we're very (barely noticeably) stronger. Ruddy is probably better than Karius n'all.

Not sure how we can't class Minteh as a loss - if we'd kept him I would have took that as a win.  Looks a decent player in a position we desperately need to strengthen.

He would. We haven't met what he wants though. Same as every transfer.

He just keeps adding £5mil to the price

We didn't have Minteh in our squad last season. We lost Anderson, but regained Tonali and added Kelly.

We have the same (I'd say a better) squad as we had playing CL last year, going into a season with no European football – with a lot less need for rotation.

Minteh would have been - and looks a quality RW

The thing with someone like Mitchell is that he is so experienced at the highest level, that he would not only have access to a database with a bunch of players, but he will also have great contacts all over the place to recommend available players that fit the bill.

This ^ - no excuse he's only just through the door.  it's also not like we have had to replace our whole recruiting department. Surely we had 'targets' not 'target'.

McTominay, Greenwood, Pellistri, Fernandez, Kambwala, Van De Beek, Wan Bissaka, Pellistri, Fish, Mejbri.

It's a lot more than £100m, I was just being conservative so I don't get accused of making up figures.

You got 500k for Van De Beek 😄
