  1. 126 - England completed 126 passes in the final third of the pitch, 42 more than Italy (84). Perspective.

530 - England completed 530 passes in this match; 191 more than Italy managed to complete (339). Shift.

  2. he's a barely competent premier league centre half. Anyone who thinks he can play international football as a holding midfielder should be locked in a padded room for their own protection.

This tickled me. It's 100% right of course.

  3. I meant I'd logged on to find this out.

Ah. Please accept my apologies for my tone and manner in that case.

Although, as it does not seem have been sung again, we're still no further forward to solving it.

  4. National team anthem pet-hates

    1. The pathetic "No surrender" bit sung by England fans during the anthem

    2. Booing other teams' anthems (especially one as good as the Italians')

Couldn't agree more. The hate on the face of that arsehole gesturing towards the Italians during our anthem  :huff:

    Yep.

And I write that as a supporter of the national team. I'm even slightly hopeful a younger team with a hopefully still-on-fire Harry Kane might at least restore England regularly to its natural quarter final base.

  5. I'd say relegation form for his final full year, blaming the fans' positivity (and negativity, the next week) for losing points, not to mention being consistently complicit in Ashley's attempts to strip the club of both its soul and assets constitutes a 'terrible' job. Any arsehole who thinks otherwise can go drink a can of petrol.

I'm in Total agreement. We need a Welcome Break from this debate. Esso boring.

Agreed, continuing this crude debate is fuelish in my eyes.

Well well well, seems someone's ignited the usual punhouse extravaganza. Oil be off.

Ah come on. There's no reason to be peed off!

  6. Do you resent Keegan for walking out?

No, not in itself. I resent the bullshit that's come in the wake of each walkout.

In the first case, he walked when the transfer money ran out. In the second case, he walked when he realised that he wasn't going to change the owner's policy and get him to spend - the Gonzalez issue gave him the opportunity to go with his nose clean.

And of course, with England he was a failure because there's no opportunity to spend money. You have to work with what you have.

Keegan will always have a special place in the club's history, because he was the catalyst for changing the club's thinking from small club to big club. Unfortunately, he didn't have the all-round ability to capitalise on the opportunity that - in fairness - he largely created for himself by hauling the club's ownership in the direction that he wanted.

    Oh, do fuck off...

  7. 6 points in 6 games is good?

Would work out at about 37 points a season.

    ;D

  8. Probably 4-5 tonight, maybe as high as a 7 if we screw up the next three games. FWIW, my (still 'optimistic') prediction, starting with Hull, is: WDLLWLDLDLLDLWDL = 41 points, 15th place. Glorious.

Record has been WDD so, as per this prediction, we're on target for 42 points even if we only win two more games this season and draw a few...

  9. Can see Lambert getting the push now

    No chance.

Untouchable. Even if we go down.

To think, tonight was the first time the fans have *really* turned on him.

Here's his record since September 20th:

    LLLLLLDDDWWLDLDDLLLLL (P21 W2 D6 L13; 8 goals for, 33 against).

    Staggering that he's still here.

So at which point was the improved contract offered?

Brummie can correct me if I'm wrong but I'm pretty sure it was after four games this season which went WDWW including a 0-0 draw against us. Even then, Villa only scored four goals in those matches 1-0-2-1

Yes, it was after four league games.

We'd taken 10 points from 12, yes, but even then there were warning signs.

As you said, we hardly scored, we played you at home and didn't have a shot on target, and we got knocked out of the League Cup to Leyton Orient (a game in which we failed to score).

On the back of that, new four year contract.

I can not believe what has become of Lerner. Four years of being very good, followed by 4, approaching 5 years of making Ashley look good.

Honestly, I just can't believe it.

It's utterly bizarre, like. Even more bizarre than Pardew hanging on for so long imo, as difficult as that is to comprehend. 12 league goals in 25 goals all season, man.

  10. Can see Lambert getting the push now

    No chance.

Untouchable. Even if we go down.

  11. Villa and Hull are going to be in the s*** judging by this weekend's performances.

QPR, Hull, Burnley, Villa and Hull should all be relegated. Imagine two of those are going to be safe

I agree. Hull are so bad they should be relegated twice.
