I'd have put Dummett on. Or go 4 4 2 and get Kennedy on. Putting Manquillo on and moving yedelin to centre back is odd for me

Great goal but put three at the back are so bad on the ball it's unreal.  This system needs Schar or Lejeune but preferably both! Hope the goal gives Perez confidence

As good as Fernandez has been he will play Lascelles and Lejeune when fit.  Lascelles is still young and likely to improve so makes sense to start him ahead of a 30 year old. I'd like to see more of Schar too

I'd sell Clark and whatever he brings on get a left back a position we've needed to strengthen since Enrique left. 

I still say in a better team who play football he would be an all together improved player.  Yes he has been here a few years but he can still improve whereas fans favourite Ritchie will become even more unathletic

Love how people prefer a player like Ritchie who runs round pointing, leaving his man, hitting the first defender with every cross and the athletic ability of a sloth but he tries. Maybe Perez gets caught on the ball as he literally has no one to pass too and doesn't just pass it backwards for the sake of it. But what do I know! When your playing crap the first players to get criticised are the footballers and not the plodders like Ritchie and Dummett both of who have done fuck all this season

Agree all three are solid defensively but as a team if they are part of the reason we can't function or retain the ball it needs to change.  Agree again though that it won't

Shelvey plays deep because Lascelles, Fernandez and Dummett can't pass the ball.  We massively miss Lejeune. I'd give Schar a chance instead of fernandez or lascelles or we might as well be playing Shelvey as a sweeper

No agree but those two are literally our only hope going forward.

Hits the first defender with his crosses way too often.  Takes awful set pieces.  Points and shouts a lot which is mistaken for effort.  In the team as we have no one else

There is a complete lack of confidence in the team.  Lejeune is a huge miss the back four can't pass the ball.  Ritchie runs arou d pointing and shouting but does nothing.  The crowd love him though as he runs round pointing and shouting.  His set pieces were awful never missed the front man.  Shelvey sprayed a 60 yard pass leaving him one on one and he turned inside knocking it twenty yards back.  We are woeful only shelvey and Kennedy have My creation. Our bench is dire this can only go one way

I've got hope back after yesterday. Benitez needs to play strongest team every week no tinkering. Lascelles and shelvey need to stay fit get Lejeune back sign Messi in January we will be sweet. Oh and Ashley to die of asphyxiation after stuffing too many sausage rolls down his fat neck at Christmas

When he broke in the second half and failed to pass it seven yards to Shelvey. You could see exactly what was going to happen before it did.  Tragically bad. I can't believe Aaron's or Roberts didn't deserve a chance ahead of this guy
