  1. It shows that Howe is right to bring these new imports in slowly. We'd probs have been better off with Schar and Burn today if Targett was fit.
  2. He did well not to foul Haaland at one point. Would've been a red.
  3. That cross that he just let bounce away Thought he looked a bit wooden at times. Not the dominant display I hoped for.
  4. Both are superior except for with their feet. But Southgate has this club England thing where he picks players he's used together a lot. Might be too late for him to swap. He should, Pope or Henderson would do better than Pickford.
  5. But joeyt brought it up again in here? Thought he wanted the discussion.
  6. I'm happy to drag it out. Quick search and dug that out from one of Darlow's stints. He's had great spells in goal for us at the same level as Dubravka. People just don't like to remember and are clouded by his poor efforts last season. Dubravka far better than him last year, but overall they're similar when on their games.
  7. 2 attacking signings that work and we'll be pushing 5th or 6th.
  8. Darlow had a pretty bad time at the start of last season IN A BRUCE TEAM but if you look at his stats across his other stints in goal for us then he stacks up favourably against Dubravka. On their day, much of a muchness. We've moved on from both being near our number 1 spot.
  9. They're pretty even. Pope on another level. The later is pretty clear now. Fair play to Howe and the team taking the opportunity to steal Pope for peanuts.
  10. Can believe this. Pickford got a mysterious injury and missed a game at SJP recently too.
  11. There's a strong argument to say we are 2 points better off from Pope's addition alone.
  12. Maybe. But then if you're thinking about your team set up, you don't make such assumptions. And to be clearer about how the game panned out, we went toe to toe in the first half and were pushed back and pretty much dominated in the second.
  13. Murphy has experience and that trumps Anderson, even if Anderson is better or at least, has more potential. Howe wants someone to do a specific job and trusts the experienced guy more. No slight on the kid.
  14. I think that's 100% the reality of today? They got a higher XG. Our chances came from ASM playing a blinder. Pope made 4 or 5 saves that wouldn't have happened last season.
  15. I'm talking about when we play elite teams. Nothing wrong with the approach against other sides. I love jt.
  16. God, this is churlish. I think we slightly over commit our press for too long and that leaves us tired later in games. DM position needs to be a bit more defense focused to track runs past our defence. But I'm some layman posting his opinions from very little. Loads I love though. 433. Holding mid. Pressing midfielder. Joe and ASM double team on Walker.
  17. I'm not saying we need to sit back deep in our own box. I've actually said that explicitly. Don't just assume that's what I mean. Have already outlined my thoughts on that. But don't go making up what I think
  18. Oh yeah. Feels like a win.
  19. I think it hard to take the game in isolation and not think how it would play out 99/100 or whatever. Yeah, enjoy the win today, but then also consider how it played out and think, "is it the best way to get results more often than not against that level of opposition?" And I think maybe not. That's all. Think I can post my opinions and not have to happy clap every idea. So yeah, I can hold these thoughts and also enjoy it.
  20. Can't post a contrasting opinion without some users getting pissy. Haha
  21. Fits with what we saw. They really changed it up after half time. Or we were worn out. Onwards and upwards though.
  22. Not anymore. You can trust Howe to set ho a team to win this. Even with rotation.
