James Maddison (now playing for Tottenham Hotspur)
Gawalls replied to The Prophet's topic in Football
Just been on the foxes forum reading the finances thread and it seems they padded their squad out for Europe, sending the wage bill (and net spend) into overload then the new ffp restrictions came in and they didn’t have Europe anymore so they’re left with a bloated squad with way too many fringe players and trying to reduce wage bill. Kasper going on a free removing £100k per week from the wage bill. I also read somewhere they posted a £33m loss last year, put all this together then they may want to cash in on Maddison whilst they’re getting a decent offer. I’m optimistic - even if this deal doesn’t go through then this has clarified to me our slow well thought out approach will pay dividends down the line for us. -
I also put him in the same bracket to be honest even though his goals are higher
-
There has to be a reason why clubs aren’t beating his door down at that price - I can only assume they know more than we do and there’sa reason why they’re a little reluctant.
-
What’s bizarre about that story is we’re negotiating as we won’t pay the amount - the fact that its only 17.5m makes me think Maddison and Harrison were always higher up the priority list and he is being kept on the hook just in case.

I live in Leicester and I know this is said a lot but I would actually drive him up myself. He’d still have to pay petrol money of course. -

Reading between the lines here - the quote “there’s no way I would want to sell him” tells me it’s not his choice. -

Or is it a badly placed comma so it’s £50m including add ons as that reads a lot differently to £50m, including add ons. -

It was - but people think he’ll come here because he has a friend that works here ffs. -
Massive jump from first division to championship and they’re not used to it yet. I think it’s a good point
-
In all fairness, first game in the championship and a draw against a team that finished firmly in the middle of the table (13th) and 10 points away from playoffs is a good point.
