Apart from last season wood was averaging 12 goals a season in a poor Burnley side so is he a massive improvement or just a cocky, slight upgrade? I personally think one season isn’t enough to go for him just yet.

If we sold or moved on that amount then I think the reduction in dead wood would be more beneficial to be honest. im gutted Ritchie and Gayle haven’t been moved on, maybe even Murphy would be great result.

I’m not - I think one signing and I have no f@cking idea of their plans but to me it seems we’re at least one window away from really ramping up recruitment to next level as a lot of contacts run out next year and we get new advertising with current deal running out next year. i think they’ll get what they need and that’s it This window, in my opinion that’s one more signing to add more creativity. If we don’t then I’ll still be very happy - just think where we were last summer.

No required incomings is now vital - we now have a competent setup from the board right the way through, a squad that can compete and more importantly a long term game plan that seems to be getting carried out competently. Nothing wrong with hoping for new players etc but in 6 short months they’ve removed the need for phrases like “vital” or “desperate for”.

Tell me - do you honestly think we would have picked as many points up last season if we played with ten men and dropped wood? If not then your talking absolute nonsense about wood

100% spot on - he was part of the time that helped save us and although didn’t score offered other things to help get the wins and people are too stupid to acknowledge that.

We ignored him and underused him basically where Brentford have been amazing for his career. Just can’t imagine he looks at our time with a smile on his face that’s all.

I’m not sure he’d want to come back to us to be honest.

With prices at the minute I think we’d end up paying waaay over the odds.

If you Expect him to be good I think he might just surprise you. I don’t rate him at all to be honest

I think it’s a case of a couple of littler signings like cornet until we reduce the current squad and wage bill. 9 players in their last season so it may be next summer for any more big marquee signings.

Next couple of years is important to clear out dead wood as contracts run down (think over 20 contracts expire in next 2 years with 9 in the next year) and we build up academy as we’ve started to already. add on top of this new sponsorship and slowly landing occasional botman bruno type signing to raise our profile. This is the only way forward in this day and age I feel.

No one knows their financial plans and 1 and a half windows isn’t enough to tell. All I know is you don’t get to be worth what they are by doing the wrong thing financially so whatever the outcome I’m happy.

Mate, i tried to quote about people expecting too much and the budget something like at least 40 pages ago and I basically got told to go away so this is my first post since. People are gonna believe and (imo) be disappointed when the dust settles even though we’ll have had a really good window. wasting your time.

And who cares if he’s just an impact sub, a wild card - it’s £17.5m. He can be bought as well as rather than instead of. it’s a 5 sub rule next season and versatility, cover and options will help a lot. If we can take a gamble on wood then we can take a gamble on him.

Agreed - I mean it’s in between the cost of target and burn ffs. also reports saying he’s training normally and not kicking up any fuss so obviously has a good attitude as well.

Reports now coming in Everton are looking at cornet - he has a £17.5m release clause, to me that’s well worth a gamble and we shouldn’t miss out.
