But is your point that we cant criticize or that we have to end every post with "Still think Eddie is the man"? I do think he is btw.
-
No matter how we would have ended up there, i dont disagree that the FB signings would have been perfectly fine IF we also could get a adequate squad in place.
-
If by win you mean everyone agreeing with what they are doing then no, obviously not. I need to correct myself a little though, my preffered strategy would have probably been selling some of our bigger players to finance a larger squad. Wouldnt have to go for the cheaper ones then.
-
I wouldnt have used all the money for a RW. Rather the opposite i would have bought alot more cheaper signings. The last two season our squad depth have been what has been dragging us down. Either through players getting fatigued or that replacements for injured players just werent the quality needed.
-
Im not passing judgement on the individual transfers, but on the overall strategy. At the time i was all for the signings though, but i didnt know that it would put us in this position.
-
Probably missed an oppurtunity to sell someone after that season yeah. No idea if we had any offers though. Not selling Trippier last January was definitely a mistake imo. Meant £40m each btw, but was maybe £30m for Hall?
-
Without looking at how the signings worked out in retrospect, id say £40m on two young talented fullbacks and £40m for a backup LW was not the right move considering our lack of squad depth and the position we have gotten into the last few transfer windows.

Didnt get to watch the game until ET, but great news that he seemed to have played well. Will forgive him for making a big blunder when he was knackered.
-
How much are these guys saying that we have available in the summer? With the way FFP works selling players for profit gives us alot of room to work with in the short term.
-
Which accounts are you looking at? We just had to sell a player in a squad that was very small to begin with. Sure we probably will get some more room to work with after this season is over, but surely not enough to do the squad overhaul we need without additional "ffp funds" from selling players.
-
Lost his head and deserved the red imo. Never going to get appealed.
-
Its not that insane is it? Need to replace quite a few players this summer and probably cant do that without selling one of Isak/Tonali/Gordon/Hall/Bruno.
-
Eddie is no doubt suffering from the state of the squad atm, but he does bear some of the responsebility of that himself tbh.
-
Gordon I guess, Tino to a lesser degree.
-
Well he isnt good atm, so dont think we will miss him.
-
Maybe a blessing in disguise that he got a suspension. Havent been good for quite for some time and might badly need this rest.

Tino cmon.... -
We have? Gordon was a left wing player even back then, and we had just bought for £40m. We also had Joelinton/Isak/Willock who could play there. But sure, it was a reason i added "in hindsight atleast".
-
Barnes was a weird one in hindsight atleast. Dont think he is a bad player, but paying £40m for a backup is strange considering our squad depth.
-
And 2 points of 10th. On schedule for 62 points isnt that great when we have no Europe. Its decent considering the small squad, but no miracle.
-
Overall its an expected lackluster performance. Looked okay in parts.
-
All our defenders do that, every time.
-
It kinda was, hooked his leg after.
-
He got injured for a pretty long time. Havent been the same ever since.
