You do get the feeling with Maxi (if there is any truth in us signing Barnes) that there’s a strong chance he would leave knowing we have Gordon, Willock and Joelinton covering that area. Bottom line is Maxi has been outstanding for us. Yes there have been times certain parts of his game have let him down and ultimately this would be the reason why we’re strengthening that area for the long term. His stats don’t lie and he is really appreciated for what he’s done on and off the pitch. I guess only time will tell what will happen. We had Murphy and almiron at the time to secure our position whereas bringing in a player like that was probably not good timing - Gordon on the other hand likely didn’t expect to be picked each game and I think Eddie definitely more so sees him as an important addition for the future. like I say, until I see that an agreement has been made in the headline, I’m not gonna pay too much attention to it.
