  1. You're obviously entitled to your opinion as are other, as I am. We aren't all going to like some opinions but then again it's all about what one person sees of something against another.
  2. Absolutely. I'd say Bruce managed to get a bit more out of those players in a bit better way as time went on, but then things started to go downhill for a variety of reasons.
  3. Any idea how much he had to spend including what he took in from transfers since he came?
  4. Increased to start with but then again Bruce wasn't my ideal appointment yet came in and gave it a go for a while and did ok at first. After that we all know what happened. He basically lost the plot.
  5. As I mentioned earlier in the posting, I enjoyed some of his time but his football became tedious and with all the other stuff that went on I simply went off him. As for other managers, I agree some have been abysmal but some didn't start off as abysmal. They actually started off decent. Pardew included. Carver was an abomination. Bruce actually did ok to start with but lost the plot. Rafa did the same thing as far as I'm concerned.
  6. My point was Rafa taking away what he was best at and what he'd offered Rafa.
  7. This is what I'm saying. He was a revelation and Rafa decided to play him as wing back and focus on defensive work more as well as attacking. It didn't suit Kenedy and his game suffered because of it. Rafa bought in wingers and basically refused to play them much. He was far too defensive minded for me and the way I saw it was him going out to not lose rather than going out to actually get on the front foot and try to win games. If people saw it differently then that's their opinion.
  8. He may not be now but he certainly was with us.
  9. The kenedy that started off as a revelation for us and was then messed about with. I'm not interested in what other clubs he played for.
  10. Just click on your name at the top and it'll say ignored posters. Just put my name on and it's done.
  11. He wasn't always crocked under Benitez.
  12. Just remember what he had when we went down under his tenure (not all his fault obviously). Look what he spent to get us out of that championship. Then he spent to stabilise us in the premier league along with the better players he kept. He had enough players at his disposal to do a job of consolidating our position. We didn't have the big bucks to challenge the sugar daddies but Ashley certainly could've offered a few quid more, yet Benitez could've got more out of some of those players he had, I think.
  13. Take a look at what he had in the premier league, including loans.
  14. Why ask for a one year extension? And how much money did he ask for for this one year extension. Any idea?
  15. Look at the money he spent for the time he was here. It was a decent amount and he could've done much better if he used players better and bought better. Let's look at his final season with us and see what players he had at his disposal. We had some decent players at the time which weren't properly used in my opinion.
  16. Obviously as a club we did need to spend better but bear in mind we bought a lot of championship players at the top end of the scale to do a job and it worked. Back in the premier league Rafa bought in some decent players but not enough but he also didn't get the best out of a lot which I think he could've definitely done, Miggy being one. But as I said earlier, Ashley has to take his share of the blame but so does Rafa.
  17. I never said he was a poisoned chalice for Newcastle. I said he's a poisoned chalice now, I think, with what he did after Newcastle. Maybe try not to get yourself worked up on a messageboard. You're entitled to your opinion just as I am and not all are going to agree.
  18. Any idea what money was on offer for Rafa against what he was asking for?
  19. Wasn't Staveley originally lurking around the Liverpool takeover before Newcastle?
  20. It's fairly simple for me. When Rafa was at Newcastle I backed him as I do with any manager who looks to get us motivated and having a go. Rafa started off trying to save us from relegation. It didn't work but 10 games left wasn't down to him failing, obviously. I backed him and loved him in the championship. He was backed very well in that championship and we scraped through to the title which was fantastic. I backed him in our first season back in the premier league but I didn't enjoy a lot of the football and I always had the same back and forth arguments of him being a defensive master tactician and if we couldn't score too many we wouldn't concede. I found it to be part true but not all true and the football was soul destroying at times. However I still backed him. It's not like I hated him or disliked him even but I didn't like the way he had us playing and then basically trying to ask for 6 million a season from a club that was struggling financially compared to many clubs. Of course Ashley has to take a good portion of the blame but I lost a lot of respect for Rafa after that.
  21. To be fair, I know this isn't a welcome opinion but it is my genuine opinion.
  22. How did he work wonders? He was offered a new contract but he wanted 6 million a year, unless that's not correct. He then chose to go to a Chinese club with a pretence that it was just the project he needed when it was plain to see it was the silly money on offer. I have zero time for him.
  23. We all have our opinions and I respect yours but I simply did not enjoy his time at Newcastle and I was genuinely happy to see him leave. I'm not too sure about what you mean in him contacting Staveley.
