Yeah, I certainly have much more time for NUST than the other lot.  There’s clearly good people involved with NUST - but the tf brigade have completely hijacked it.  Shame, really.

Totally agree with this, seemed really positive a few years back and had cynics like myself taking note but it’s gone sour, the 2 currently in charge of it might as well walk round with flashing neon signs saying ‘give me attention’

Also annoys me they go on like they represent all fans and the club listens to them on tickets when they have a total membership of less than a 3rd of a home gate.

Agree, it seems like clutching at straws to believe the management team would have sent out a bunch of midfielders who were carrying some sort of virus. We just got out-thought tactically on the day. Joelinton can have days when his touch is off, but we couldn't get anywhere near their midfield on the day, which just suggests we got our formation wrong.

I'm not saying they were totally unfit as obviously you wouldn't play them but I did think they both looked under the weather (like you can be after being ill) rather than just not playing well. Each to their own opinion I guess

    Has to be:

                           Pope

    Tripper    Schar      Botman      Burn

                           Bruno

              Longstaff         Willock

    Miggy/Murphy                    Joelinton

                        Wilson/Isak

I know loads will want Targett in but it just won't happen.

    What about Miggy vs Murphy?

    What about Isak vs Wilson?

I've got a sneaky suspicion he will stick with Murphy, in order to give Miggy another week and I also think he brings Wilson in.

Gordon, Miggy and Isak from the bench.

Think Miggy and Isak for me personally, though you could make an argument for Wilson to physically pressure spurs back line

Watched some of the game back and he was all over the shop and rarely tracking runs (even very simple ones rather than rotations that'd be difficult to keep up with). Wonder if he's carrying a knock as he looked canny slow.

I think hes had the same illness Longstaff had, wouldnt be surprised if Bruno had been ill too.

    From the article:

“Even without Champions League football, Newcastle are going to be ambitious in their recruitment drive with players such as James Maddison, Moises Caicedo, Conor Gallagher, Ivan Toney, Kaoru Mitoma, Kavlin Phillips, Jarrod Bowen and Declan Rice being discussed, along with the likes of Scott McTominay, Harvey Barnes and Kieran Tierney.

There are also several players currently playing abroad who are attracting firm interest, with Borussia Monchengladbach’s Marcus Thuram, Celta Vigo’s Gabri Veiga, Bayer Leverkusen’s Moussa Diaby and Napoli pair Victor Osimhen and Khvicha Kvaratskhelia admired.”

    Scattergun well and truly fired

One name really doesnt fit with the rest of them though

i still hold hope we're looking to grow in a measured fashion, and that should we finish in the CL spots we don't do a heel turn into what everyone always said would happen anyway i.e. "oil state backed juggernaut".

Hit Brighton and Villa in the backs with Steel chairs and join the corrupt 6 ?

Seems a bit of a waste from Bayern but fair fucks. Wonder if that might change under Tommy Toucher albeit he didn’t play against City.

Bayern will always be fine as they just get fed from the rest of the bundesliga  so they can afford some to go wrong.

Think by modern standards it wasn’t the biggest deal ~20-25m

Tuchel is apparently going to give him a chance but the proof will be in the pudding.

    Still very raw, essentially

Yep, his price tag makes you think we were getting a star but he still needs a lot of development and learning.

IMO he’s at the impact sub stage of his career. He needs to develop further to be a regular starter. Luckily we have one of the best at getting more from players.

Burn simply cannot start again at LB.

Id prefer Targett but I’d be surprised. Do you honestly expect him to make the change?

Didn’t he just go to Bayern?

Yeah last summer but he’s not getting much game time and they are signing Laimer in the summer and they’ve already got Kimmich and Goretzka so apparently he wants to move on.

Emery is nuts. He does things that make you think, he's insane. Like Bailey out, so you think 'ah, Traore in then' and he puts Dendoncker in to add a bit of physicality in the middle, and you think "WTF, Dendoncker?" and then he does exactly that, and has a great game.

That was what Rafa used to do, I used to see the team and think WTF is he doing and then when the game came it would just work.

Think at that point I was used to managers who when they did something stupid there often wasn’t good reason behind it.

He's got a big decision to make this week - stick or twist.

Stick with what's got us 3rd in the league, best defensive record, clean sheets etc or risk it and try to catch Spurs on the hop in the biggest League game of the season. Fully expect Spurs to prepare for the full court press, 433, Trippier bombing on, Burn edging central when he sees it happen and using the 'extra man' to create havoc.

I just worry that some have sussed us out and know exactly how to counter what we do virtually every game. Does he go with the regular formation and risk being predictable, thus playing into Spurs' hands? Or does he change a successful system and have the element of surprise on Spurs and start with Wilson and Isak? Big week. Big decisions and if he gets them right we're virtually home and hosed. Get them wrong...

I think our standard formation in theory is a good fit against Spurs especially considering recent form.

Personally I’d start Miggy and Willock as our wide men against spurs then bring Maxi, Wilson and maybe Gordon in vs Everton and Southampton where we may need to break them down so need more players further forward.

Arsenal will be a tough game so a similar formula to spurs might be best and then for Leeds/Leicester who are a bit more open than Southampton/Everton you could go with a mix of both line ups.

The game where I think we need to change our system is against Brighton as IMO they are a better version of Villa overall. Go for a 4-4-1-1 and catch them on the break

I don't see us being clear favourites against Arsenal even at home.

They will be favourites but we are better at home and we have a 2 day rest advantage before playing them as we play Sunday and they play Tuesday

Point me to where these pearls of wisdom were pre 1230

Do you know what hindsight is?

I don’t think even the most negative of us could have had us playing that badly. The only thing I said pregame was how athletic they are and we didn’t deal with it

He feels so wasted in these games, he had some quality moments in the period after Wilson came on, when e dropped deeper.

I think we need to look at how Spurs use Kane and bring in a proper work class winger in the summer.

I’ve said this before with an older comparison in that we need to find a Pires to go alongside his Henry
