I'm not saying we should sell under value. 140-150 million quid for getting us two CL spots and a throphy along with 75 million profit is good fucking business. It'd be preferred where we are not in a weak position regarding strikers. I know people mentioned we have to pay Real Sociedad etc but I do believe that is things we can brush away from the PSR rules if thats the case, as it'd made our purchase smaller.

I personally don't hope we don't go down the stubborn way. He is under contract yes, but he can still do the absolute minimum to keep to his contract. And for every month his value will dwindle while him still getting 120k/w. It'll fuck our PSR completely but worse it'll devestate our reputation for new signings. Even if we are right in this matter, this sort of issues will certainly stain the club if we refuse to train and play him under the current circumstances. It would be different if players saw the club as their ceiling, but we're not there yet.

I think that's the case. Only real reason I see why Isak behaving like he does even if he should respect a contract. The only mildly interesting part if he ends up leaving is hearing his part of this story, seems he at least have enough brains to not bad mouth the management while still in the club.
-
I don't think it was out of the blue though. Management likely have known for a long time and is likely the reason Isak became shit the last few games of the last season as they've probably told him he is not for sale unless it being for some absurd amount of money which probably pissed him off. Then when the scousers came with the Ekitike deal, and when we refused, that's when he completely lost his shit.

My god, do we want this guy? Imagine the calculation of life choices this dude has in front of the goal. Should I hit left, uhm right? Fuck, was it really wise of me to eat that much bacon more breakfast? Did my wife not look at Tom a little too long yesterday? Are my shoe laces even tied?
-
I actually don't think he is THAT shit. I think its just that club that makes him awful. Everything with Man Utd stinks at the moment and that's why I'm surprised anyone would want to go here. I'm sure they'll turn the ship around eventually, but if I was a young striker I wouldn't take that risk, Newcastle is a far better prospect.
-
My god, you are correct. Liverpool are completely betting on the wrong horse here, someone should tell them.
-
Don't understand how any sane man could prefer Man Utd, that's like standing in line to ruin your career. He should ask himself, Where is Isak and where is Hojlund.

To be fair, I was thinking about this yesterday, and if anything we're kind of lucky footballers are as ambitious and competetive as they are really. If I had a 5 years long contract with a good wage and setup for life already and was unhappy with my employer. I'd honestly do my best to not to break the contract while giving my absolute bare minimum effort.
-
I'm not sure I agree with that. Main focus should be performance, if we don't do well in Champions league we'll be losing a lot of money we need for PSR. And as shit as things are, a contract with a rather hefty release clause is probably the best way to motivate him to perform. Doing it because he loves Newcastle would be preferred, but we know we aint there.

Oh I believe the squad is on our side no doubt. I meant more us signing players from other clubs. Until we've established ourself as a top club, most young players with high ambitions likely watch us as a stepping stone, and us not wanting to sell them if successful could be a concern. But yeah, its very annoying when the situation been fabricated like that.
-
Problem is that I think there are other concerns as well besides the risk of toxic atmosphere in the club. We have done nothing wrong, but I think players in general are not very keen on signing long contracts, and then watching us refusing to let players go even if top clubs break the banks for them probably stirs an icky feeling inside of their heads when it comes to signing for us, especially long contracts.

Do we even want a player with low enough football IQ to want to go to Man Utd in their current state?
-
I feel like "promising" him a raise that we later rejected, then saying we'd go ambitious when we didn't doesn't help. Like I know a football club is different with team mates and fans all. But how much don't you fucking hate that sort of talk from your employer? Its absolutely infuriating. Even though "PSR" isn't really something a normal employer have to deal with. Isak, from the looks of it, surely gained a lot of attention we didn't previously have in this club. So couldn't we at least offer him sort of % off kit sales with his name? Something to make him feel more sane. I hate to say it, but it feels like we've acted like any employer, asking him to overperform during mid-season, and then shafting him during the off seasons when the goals been achieved. Either way, I'm confident we'll get a lot of money, its a really poor timing to be able to spend it though, I hope we make the most of it regardless.
-
While Isak's timing is unforgivable. If Craig's take on it is true(And I don't see why he'd partly take Isak's side if he was being a complete c*nt) it is worrying and one can hope the leadership havn't managed to aggrevate more key players in the squad. Although, its probably less likely as both Bruno and Gordon got new contracts.
