  1. I think blaming tourists doesn’t really get to the root of the problem. There aren’t enough of them to make an actual difference. Atmosphere is been awful at the Etihad for a decade now. Arsenal is worse. City of London Stadium is worse still. What do these grounds have in common? They are great big soulless bowls with no character. Add in higher ticket prices, cracking down on standing, etc and you have a recipe for a flaccid atmosphere.
  2. It’s ok. You are right. It’s a few posts back and I just plain missed it.
  3. Anyone else successful in the ballot but not get the email? I’ve had payment taken the tickets show as purchased in my account, but no email arrived. Thoughts? Excited to finally be successful and trying to get the ticket I’m my apple wallet
  4. Yup Burnley tickets. They show up In your account now.
  5. Trying to sort my Burnley ballot now. Is there any general consensus on which categories (including premium) have the most availability? I don’t care where I sit, I just want to be in the ground for once.
  6. It's actually madness. Entering the ballot for the RIGHT to get into a queue and experience what is basically the same free-for-all system as before? And all that less than a fortnight before the match? It's f-ing Lloyd Christmas and Harry Dunne running the show. There is no perfect system, but at least please get the damn tickets on sale. Now for the Burnley match we have a bloody rail strike cocking up everything. Same for PSG. Not everyone lives down the road from St. James' park. Some of us actually need to plan.
  7. Rail strike announced for October 4. Wonder if/how that will impact the PSG fixture with many away supporters presumably making the journey via train.
  8. Just looking around the league a bit… Man United’s ballot gives you the option of premium or standard. That’s it. When you get right down to it, that actually makes more sense.
  9. Bring on the game theory expert! This kind of thing makes my head hurt.
  10. Exactly my point. I kind of wonder about the premium areas too. Do I really want to sit there, no? But if the extra five quid increases my chance of attending the match from 20% to 50%, I would do it without hesitation.
  11. Right, but the big unknown is how many of those seats are actually available in the member sale. Category 2 is huge, but a large percentage of those seats will be held by season ticket holders. Availability in each category would be useful information to know. Once again, this just exposes the folly that is this process. Take the Man City match as an example. The three main categories are the same price, but which one you pick in the ballot could massively influence your odds of success.
  12. I know I'm preaching to the choir here, so forgive me. Just expressing my total dismay at this farce.
  13. 18 days before Burnley and not a peep from the Ticket Office re: member sales. What absolute troglodyte is in charge of these decisions? Burnley's away allocation has already been sold (and sold out). Literally no execute at this point.
  14. I can give you some insight, as I am dealing with this exact set of issue for the Burnley match. 1) There are dozens of trains per day from London Kings Cross to Newcastle. If your train is cancelled, there will be alternate services available for booking. Lumo is reliable. However, If you are expecting German reliability, you are playing with fire. Best to make sure you have buffer. Plus, you want to be there early enough for some pints beforehand. 2) You will get your tickets a few days before the match. You are guaranteed a seat. The hospitality description on the website should tell you where your seat will be, but it will either be Milburn stand or Leazes Stand. The seats will all be fine, but you will probably find the atmosphere in the hospitality areas a bit sterile. But you are in the ground, and that’s the important thing. 3) There are hospitality packages still available, but it’s the more expensive ones. Note that the link from the ticket page is broken (typical ticket office rubbish), but if you go via the hospitality page, you will see availability. Suggest you ring the hospitality office on Monday and ask to get a ticket for your friend. I’ve used stub hub in the past for other venues with no problem, but the ticket office seems pretty hell bent on stamping that out, so buyer beware.
