  1. I don't think Elanga is good enough for National League on his form - you can't give the ball away 1 in every 3 times you get it - and never assist or score. Do you have confidence that if we could loan Elanga or Osula to York City (1st National League) their manager would play them over his players on the back of - NUFC players? They are more talented - potentially.
  2. Am I allowed to change this discussion back to Will Osula? We all agree he needs selling? What level of football do you think he plays at? I think he's a talented player, but he's no longer 'young and developing'. He could go on trial at loads of National League North/South clubs and not get a contract in my opinion. It's a flip of coin on his career in my opinion - but it will never be at Newcastle.
  3. Man City have had best recruitment policy for last 15+ years. Part of that is buying well in January. Never understand why we, or even all clubs are so reactive in the window. Fairs does Johnson into Palace early. Semenyo into City is classic City. As a club, we need to cut the rumours and likes of Craig Hope jabbering on for weeks right out - and act quickly and just get it done. City last January signed 4/5 players - just got it done. Not asking Newcastle to sign that level of player - just try and operate on that level. Be clinical and get it done. My prediction - we don't sign a soul. Osula out on loan.
  4. Teach me then? You've just interested yourself into this, so what do I need to learn? I was never talking shite about anything. I think going round in life telling people to 'just learn!!' is a painful lifestyle.
  5. John Rooney on Gary Nev's podcast today - made it all about his brother. Just a couple of videos for you to know that John Rooney was a cheat code at National League for Barrow being promoted. John has a better goal-reel than Wayne.
  6. Who was the massive Georgian child we signed from Dinamo Tblisi? There was also that winger that was playing week in week out at 18 for Malaga in Spanish 2nd League that Real Madrid wanted - now? That crafty Asian that played in pre-season? Just want minutes from these type of players - Alex Murphy, Neave, Scahar. Fair does if they are shit, but unsustainable needing every first team player being a 30-70M signing like Howe seems to want.
  7. KaKa and I have settled this. Feel like Mark in Peep Show in this thread. I 60% know what dubs in the chat is, or what streaming is - stop going on about it.
  8. A loan to a top flying club in Championship - even to Portsmouth. He'd buzz off his tits playing football in a attacking side like Cov, even Osula playing for Portsmouth in front of that crowd would get his juice flowing. I don't think Bundesliga clubs touch him now, certainly not for fee what we brought him for - £15M - let alone for 25-30M going in last moments in the summer. My guess is we'll loan-to-sell to a club like Stuttgart, and he'll end up back here in the 'bomb squad of 2026'. Lad will go under the radar as a horrible signing. When we had no ffp, we spaffed 15M on this lad.
  9. Good luck to the man. Top clubs will look at minutes played between 18-21, and it's peanuts. He's now into 22-29 which is prime, and he's a bairn. Good luck to him, and to whoever he plays for next.
  10. Always heard this How long was Tindall in Sheffield? another +500xp as to why Howe co. can't sign players for us. Osula - Ibe - Elanga is a cracking front 3 for Gateshead.
  11. Just grew up in a different era. throwing up a W with your hand meant you liked West Coast Rap - not spent 3 months on the bench. Never met him, never seen an interview with him - but I think he's a massive air-head, that's going to regret the chance of Newcastle United in 10 years time. There is easily 500 players from Championship even step 4 non league that have same ability as lads like Osula, Elanga - they just don't get given the chance, or don't have the mindset to be a pro-footballer. I watch Dorking Wanders every now and again. Osula would be eaten alive playing in that side.
  12. Soon as Osula scores he can prove me wrong with his celebration. Osula spent his first season as a background character. Yet every time he was near a NUFC camera he was main character. Lad had more fun on the open top bus than Trippier did had that day and winning La Liga combined. Don't think he's a dickhead, or he can't be a good player. But Eddie Howe would have given him a couple of chances, and finally realised he's not 'rainbow rhythms'. How telling us he's injured is BS - he's not in Howe's plan 12-18months, so he's cut him off quick.

This echos my sentiment of him. At his age, and of his type you'll never coach pace in him. So he will never be a buzzing pressing forward, or a threat like on the shoulder. My only hope is that with 10 months of Howe football, and Howe pre-season he will become a fitter and stronger player. Just want the player to grow Joelinton's aggression. With his size, and skill he'll bully top level CBs. Currently he's a tall fanny that will run into midfield when it gets tough. Over last 10 years defences have got better - latter year Bonnuci, Chiellini, Bargazli at Conte's unbeaten Juve is basically Brentford away. (extreme example). Sounds so basic, but lad needs to toughen up, bulk out and wake up. But at 23, he's not young is he - he's old enough to be considered Germany's number 9.
  14. Making a W from from you hand is gang signs. Obviously not gang sings. I don't know what throwing up dubs means, or why anyone would do it. I articulated the best I could He came into the club a very raw player - that was 18months ago. If he started tomorrow, my guess he would be the same player. Howe can't trust the lad to follow instructions on pressing, marking, not giving the ball away - he's not such a talent who scores so much to override those faults. He had barely done anything or played 1000mins of football when we paid £15M for him. Villa signed Morgan Rogers for same money, and same age zone from Boro.
  15. Alarm bell that rang for me is that Howe is happy to keep players around, regardless if they play. Also gives weight to the notion that Howe is far to loyal to players he trusts. It works, until it doesn't. Watched a clip of a pod Isaac Hayden did about our takeover - he was asked about it - and basically said, meh don't care if they sign Mbappe, I have a contract. And that's what he did - I think only last summer is when Ashley contract ran out. I have respect for Shelvey, more so following watching that pod - he tried his best for us under Howe. He had more ability than his career showed. Didn't like how Charlton treated him. As soon as he's sold to Liverpool, he's no longer allowed to train with the club, and just isolated as a 16 year old. Edit - Rarely that a Undr the Cosh interviews have any character these days, but liked the story about Mark Hudson telling John Parkin to injure Shelvey as the club want to sell him. Parky remembered playing against him at 16 and he's still impressed with him.
  16. 2-0 away Southampton - Nov 2020. Looked through YT to find it, but I think it's been scrubbed or hid behind the algorithm. Etched in my memory Fab saying the whole team is shite in a rain sodden empty St Mary's. Maybe easier to go back to the date in Fab's thread or find the match thread - asked AI if it happened... Key quotes from Schär's interview: He bluntly said the whole team had a "s* game**" (everyone included – no one was spared!). "Everybody had a **** game, to be honest. And we can't continue like this." He admitted they knew Southampton's high press was a threat but still lost too many balls in their own half, making it easy for the Saints. Schär expressed disappointment after picking up some good results prior: "We came here with confidence and it's really disappointing. It's a shame, what we did." He also pleaded with fans (even though games were behind closed doors due to COVID): There was "nothing to enjoy" for supporters, but urged them to "keep believing" in the team.
  17. It sounds like that, but when you put 2+2 I think Howe would have been willing to have him here for another year. Ritchie and Dummett were getting new deals in we got Europe last year. Howe wanting Wilson to stay.
  18. Only remember Schar's interview Southampton away regarding Bruce. Maybe forgetting Carroll? What's he said? He was done as a PL/Champ player when he arrived back, and was just garbage. Loads out there that he openly spoilt his talent due to off-field professionalism. Personally, don't care what Andy Carroll has to say on Steve Bruce being shit at Newcastle - he was even worse.
  19. Osula and Willock is the biggest space brains from all accounts on all the behind the scenes in club videos and Sky Sports 'quiz/who is' type videos. I saw more of Osula acting mental and excited to be there on Newcastle videos than I ever did him playing on the pitch. Whether that on the bus tour, or those short clips of us walking into the dressing room - Tonali, Isak, Tripps, Schar etc. just walk in - Osula is throwing gang signs and silly faces when he's not got off the bench for 2 months.
  20. For us fans I think it's a totally different dimension in how we see Ashley, Bruce, even Pardew vs. how players see them. Dwight Gayle is the only player that I've come across on these sort of interviews that openly calls out Bruce as a rank nacker. Rowan Vine is another, but he was fresh to next weekend on his Undr the Cosh. Shelvey was prodded into the days-off under Bruce, but Shelvey didn't bite - I think media training kicked in. You'll never get an honest answer out most these ex-pros. Howe willing to give him an extra year even though both knew Jonjo wouldn't play was an alarm bell - Howe was willing to give him an extra year so Jonjo could stay in Newcastle and basically never play him.. ask. Dan Ashworth said no, and fucked him to Forest. Those kind of stories, reinforce Paul Mitchell's apocryphal statement that our transfer isn't fit for business.
  21. Heard lots on how much Steve Holland is a great choice of coach for Carrick. How much of great job he's done at England under Southgate. Zero mention that Steve Holland was always England's footballing brain under Southgate. Everything England did under Southgate was lead by Steve Holland - rabbit in the headlights vs. Croatia and Modric in 2018, handing over the game to Italy for over an hour, refusing to play a left footed player on the left and 3 10's at 2024. As long as Man U, Carrick and Holland play Albania, Panama, Andorra and grind out a draw to Colombia you'll do fine. If I was a Man U fan, Steve Holland coming in under Carrick is a huge red flag.

Hence why I framed that as a last resort, and even said expensive-loan. That should have been our 6-8th choice in a window. Even season loan deals on Martinez or Hojlund are going to be costing Napoli and Bayern north of 200k a week. Now Wolte is here, I wish him nothing but success. On the whole I think he will get better as player. As with anyone, on any player - you have your own personal eye-test and opinion on players. As AyeDubbleYoo said, I'm grumbling as he's not perfect from the get go. Hold my hands up to that I guess.

That's why 5th+ choice choices should have been high cost loans likes of Jackson, Hojlund on loan, or even trying for an expensive season loan for Osimhen? Then plan to go again in 6-12 months. Not both expensive and long term like Wolte. I understand both sides of this argument, but I think a club that has exhausted top targets in a position, they are just gambling and liable to losing out in the long run. You either have top targets or not? Can't just keep going. In retrospect maybe we should have realised that Seko, Pedro, Delap, Etikeke would all turn us down - and be going in a lesser market for strikers. Would any of us grumble is Evanilson or Igor Thiago played for us and replaced Isak for £40M?

Back to goal he's the skills at foot of Romario, but goal-scoring threat of Kerlon. He's the tallest striker in Premier League, my guess all of top flight Europe and CL - but often Newcastle with Wolte up front is a defenders dream. He lets CB's bully him, never dominates in the air despite his size, and never a threat behind. National League sides could stop him scoring. Him turning into an angry target-man bastard that started elbowing CBs is probably the best thing for his game, but total opposite of his character. Not even going so far as Billy Whitehurst - maybe just if he turned into a toon Jan Koller we'd all be happy.
  25. Eddie Howe was not a top manager when he relegated Bournemouth, and turned down Celtic. It's not plausible. £500M looked good on Howe. 2 CL qualifications, won League Cup, saved club from certain relegation, narrowly missed Europe. Made loads of players better. Don't think you could find grumbling on that investment. £700M now factors in Wissa, Wolte, Ramsey, Elanga, Ramsedale that have not only countered us losing Isak, but make us look a worse side. 500M in July looks good, 6months later and 700M is a different story.
