Cameroon side Bamboutos FC have been relegated two divisions and will not play any more games this season after details of apparent match fixing were revealed.

An investigation by the Cameroon Football Federation found that during a game between Bamboutos and Federal SC on the 15th of September an envelope of cash changed hands on the field of play.

According to BBC Sport, the incident happened with Federal on the ascendancy with the score at 2-2. Bamboutos captain Koss Roger faked an injury and went down on the pitch, at which stage a medic with an envelope of cash walked onto the field to treat the skipper. The money was passed to Roger who in turn passed it to opposition player Nkoun A Rim - transaction that was reportedly witnessed by more than 1000 people.

When the final goal of the game came it was Roger who scored and Rim who was responsible for letting him in to give Bamboutos a 3-2 victory.

As a result of the Cameroon Football Federation’s investigation into the incident, Bamboutos coach Saturnin Anaba and fitness official Barthelemy Tchio have both been banned for three years. The implicated players - Roger and Rim - were banned for two years each.

Bamboutos plan to appeal against the rulings.

This was so stupid that in its own weird way it's almost admirable.

Also, in some African nations, I dare say that C.O.D. is is the only sensible way to conduct business  :coolsmiley:
