madras
Attempt is just as offence-worthy as an actual trip or contact. It was the right call, and a sending off too. He was attempting to bring down Lovenkrands and even though he didn't touch him, Lovenkrands had no other choice than to jump and fall. i remember lots of people on here slaughtering steven gerrard for going down at bramall lane on the opening day a few years back in similar fashion. i don't think the keeper went for the man...there was no contact....no pen or sending off. and i still think we'd have won comfortably. The Prophet
Don't know if it's been posted: http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/teams/n/newcastle_united/8556228.stm Basically Lovenkrands says there was no contact but in trying to avoid the goal keeper he fell over.
