Dave
Anyone collated Pardew's transfer purchases from previous clubs? http://www.newcastle-online.org/nufcforum/index.php/topic,72968.msg2664514.html#msg2664514
David Icke - Son of God
Again, not sure who's supposed to be throwing a hissy fit but whatever. joeyt went into ffs mode which is officially classed as a level 2 hiss. The IRL equivilant would be door slamming, foot stomping and very, very loud tutting.

Magpie
So of the players he bought at West Ham I'd say these were decent: ASHTON BENAYOUN COLLINS ETHERINGTON PANTSIL REO-COKER SHERINGHAM TARRICO ZAMORA
PENKAAA
I'd add Harewood to that list. We al know how bad he is now but he was on fire back then.
Consortium of one
I'm going by what Pardew said approximately 1 Feb. Along the lines of: "I have sought assurances from the owner that the £35m will be reinvested in the squad. That would be spent on wages as well, not just transfer fees." I wouldn't trust anything the owner said yesterday let alone over 3 months ago. Ashley has the attention span of a moth and I hope Pardew can work him on a daily basis and do the club right during the window.
Neil
Never, ever seen the fuss about Reo-Coker. Mr Average personified. Him and Sidwell in CM for Villa probably sent brummie to sleep.
Disco
Never, ever seen the fuss about Reo-Coker. Mr Average personified. Him and Sidwell in CM for Villa probably sent brummie to sleep. Good at getting stuck in, little else. I'd take him for free as back up to Tiote like if there was no-one else available, would prefer us to sign a deep lying midfielder to play there though who can also get stuck in. JH
What does anything Pardew says at this moment in time regarding transfers actually matter? They all play this game at this time of year - throwing out non-committal soundbites about the number of new faces they want to bring in and acting all coy about their progress in the market. Managers aren't judged on what they say to the press before the window opens, they're judged on who they buy. I, not being a complete fuckwit, will wait until the summer and see what happens rather than throwing a hissy about some throw away quotes in the local rags. Please join me. Pantsil was shit for them also. And Gabbidon was a good player back then.
Barnes23
Hopefully Pardew has got a good enough feel for the club to understand we need to aim for a higher calibre of player(generally speaking) than those he brought in at west ham.

BONTEMPI
4 players should be 7. I could accept 4 if they are of the highest quality but knowing Ashley and Derek i'd be surprised.

Baggio
Didn't Pardew say he was happy with the size of the squad? He should definitely be aiming for quality over quantity as we've got to basis of a good squad that are 2 or 3 first teamers away from being one of the favourites for 7th IMO. henke
If i were a gambling man i'd have money on us signing, or at least gtrying to sign Carlton Cole. Even if we were planning to spend the whole £35mil on one player we're limited by the wages we'll pay. I can't think of a prolific striker on less that £40k to £50, and i just can't see us paying that, so we won't be getting one.

Peter Odemwingie just over a million and he wont be on 50 grand at W.B.A. Javier Hernandez was 7m or so and he wont be on 50 grand either seeing as Man Utd are talking about doubling his wages as he's done so well. Marouane Chamakh on a free, i know he hasn't been brilliant but is a good player who maybe be better for a season in our league, Arsenal dont pay mental wages either. Decent scouting along the Odemwingie, Hernandez route means you can pick a good striker for a decent fee and they dont have to be some superstar name or ego, got be lucky to spot them but thats we pay international scouts (Carr) for

I can see it, (though not at the 7m linked in the papers, on what planet are they living on if they think he's worth that) 27 years old, English with caps. Can easily see how they rate him at that even if he is pretty shit.
