I wonder what we'd get if we put him up for sale? I'm thinking maybe £12m at a push? I honestly don't think anyone would pay that either tbh.

Difficult to say, but I think there would be quite a few championship teams that would be interested around that price range. The main sticking point is his wages. He's one of our highest earners, and he would not get even remotely close to that at any championship team so from a financial pov he'd be best off sitting out his contract here and move down to a championship club when his contact has expired. The alternative is to knock off his price/give him away to offset the wages he would demand if we just want him off our books. Doubt Howe would be keen on that though.

Think he's better with the ball to feet than his head. Remember a couple of decent passes last season, at least one of which set up a goal.

that's how i'd be trying to play with wood tbh, try and get low balls into his feet or at least midriff to control, protest and try to bring people into play...get players running off him into space

trying to get him to play the channels like wilson would be daft

Yeah so realistically we aren't getting even £12m unless a PL side comes in for him, which is unlikely considering he scored 5 goals last season, and other than goals, he doesn't really offer much else. One of those where I guess you just keep him on the books and wheel him out for cup games until his contract runs down.

If we get Isak and Pedro, he's down to 4th choice. Hopefully he'll find another club to play for soon and he won't just rot in our reserves. Be nice if we promoted a young CF to 4th place to bring them through.

Hope he finds a suitor soon, even on a free if needs be.

who’s got wood? We’ve got wood ?

Pleased for him. Good finish. Should’ve had an assist too as was never offside in the first half.

Absolutely anonymous tonight, other than scoring the winning goal. So...  Okay?

Bit harsh.

I mean, I'm not even a Chris Wood hater I thought he was really important for us last season and I don't think we stay up without him (ASM at CF was horrific).

But in this game... They didn't even say his name for the first thirty minutes. He missed his only other chance and just kind of looked miserable. I dunno, I hope he kicks on from here because the goal he did score was a nice one.

Thought he was decent. Overall I don't think he's a 'shit' player, but he's a very different type to Wilson and doesn't really fit how we want to play.

Always happy to see him score because he works hard within his limitations.

Happy for him - he's been so mediocre I've got a patronising soft spot for him. Unless he turns it on though (and I'd love him to), given we've got PL opposition in the next round of the League Cup, I'd hope we're not starting him again this season.

Vs Norwich he tore them asunder, it wasn't all bad.

Would’ve had a 2nd too if not shoved in the back just as he was shooting. Could easily have been a 2 goal, 1 assist game from him if the ref wasn’t so turboshit.

Sure he’s limited but we will never truly play to his strengths. At least with Trippier playing there’ll be better crossing for headed chances.

He has a surprising lack of strikers instinct. His knock downs are getting better but he's far too limited otherwise. Not a target man, nor a modern striker.

We looked a much better side with no striker than with him up top, he hardly does anything right, tripper kept trying to pick him out but he's always in the wrong position.

Yet to score with either foot from open play in over 20 games, and showing no signs that is going to change.

Thankfully he'll be further from the pitch when Isak finally gets a work permit.
