Sir John Hall and Sheffield Wednesday

A friend of mine is a sheff wed fan and keeps going on about Sir John Hall being linked with buying Sheffield Wednesday. I have told him this does not really make any sense as the guy is pretty old and I was under the impression that he still owned a substantial part of NUFC.

Does anyone know anything about this?

Probably sees the potential in Brian Laws and the club and sees it as an investment!!!

Bigger than Sunderland tbh ;)

My SWFC supporting mate is still fuming Sturrock got sacked and thinks Laws is shit.

Possibly cos he's on the brink of selling his NUFC interest!?!?!? Just a thought......

NSG> he's still fuming over Sturrock? Even given the situation they were in and where they are now?!?

This has to be up there with the "NUFC to buy Ronaldo/Rooney/Romario/Ronaldinho" type s****.

But we're not on about us trying to buy somebody!! We're discussing one of our major investors showing alleged interest in purchasing another club's shares. Simple really....

I was talking about the likelihood.

Northern Monkey i agree that it sounds ridiculous, and the only reason i posted it was to see if anyone knew of any reason why this could be categorically untrue so i could tell my friend who is convinced this is going to happen  (and in his words it is "all over the wednesday forums") to shut up.

I think SJH's age/allegiance/not being THAT mental is a good mix of reasons.

Sheffield Wednesday have denied Sir John Hall is one of the mystery parties interested in a possible summer takeover.

Owls chairman Dave Allen says talks are on-going with several interested parties in taking over at Hillsborough.

But Owls chief executive Kavan Walker insists property tycoon Sir John, who severed his ties with Newcastle in August 2003, is not one of them.

"We have had no contact from Sir John Hall with regard to investment in Sheffield Wednesday," said Walker.

"Talks are ongoing with a number of different parties who are interested in backing the club and we will work towards the best possible outcome for Sheffield Wednesday through these negotiations."

Millionaire casino owner Allen recently confirmed he had held talks with a Chinese consortium headed by a multi-millionaire casino owner about a possible takeover.

Allen is keen to hand over control to someone who could wipe out the club's £26million debts.
