Running a predictions comp if anyone is interested -
-
Ok, fair a few that played the premier league predictions comp were interested in a World Cup edition so here we are. I will be using the World Cup schedule for this so: Group stage round 1 Group stage round 2 Group stage round 2 Round of 32 Round of 16 Quarter finals round Semi finals round Final Same scoring system as the PL version so every round (apart from the final) you can nominate one game and whatever you score for that game will be doubled. For example if you predict England 1 - 1 Croatia and it finishes 1 - 1 you'll get 10 points. If it finishes 2 - 2 you'll get 6 points. You get the idea!!! - 2 points for correctly predicting the outcome i.e. home win or away win - 1 point for the home goals scored - 1 point for the away goals scored - a bonus point for all 3 elements correct - a correct put not perfect draw prediction is worth 3 points I will also need the following pre tournament predictions: Winner (10 points) Runner up (5 points) Top scorer (10 points) Number of red cards (5 points) How will England fare? (5 points) Round 1 - deadline Thursday 11th June @ 20.00 Mexico v South Africa South Korea v Czech Republic Canada v Bosnia and Herzegovina USA v Paraguay Qatar v Switzerland Brazil v Morocco Haiti v Scotland Australia v Turkey Germany v Curacao Netherlands v Japan Ivory Coast v Ecuador Sweden v Tunisia Spain v Cape Verde Belgium v Egypt Saudi Arabia v Uruguay Iran v New Zealand France v Senegal Iraq v Norway Argentina v Algeria Austria v Jordan Portugal v D.R. Congo England v Croatia Ghana v Panama Uzbekistan v Colombia

Well done to @Geordie Ahmed who top scored in the final gameweek with an impressive 27 points against the weekly average of 15.42. One person scored the max, going for Sunderland to beat Chelsea 2-1. 13 people blanked. And congratulations to @Froggy who extended his lead in the end to take the title be 17 points from @Nucasol. @joeyt moves up a place to take third and @SUPERTOON moves up four places to take fourth. @Kid Icarus has a final week catastrophe!!! Thanks all for taking part, think 20 is the best we’ve had for people playing right til the end! Any interest in a World Cup predictions comp?

Djed Spence in apparently, rewarded for his Spurs and England FORM. No goals or assists and part of an absolutely rotten defensive unit all season. Staggering.

Pre-season (2026/27): NUFC to play Everton at Murrayfield on 12/08/26
Magpie replied to bowlingcrofty's topic in Football
🏴 Newcastle United are exploring the possibility of a high-profile pre-season friendly against Everton in Edinburgh this summer, according to The Chronicle. While still in the early stages of negotiation, the match would be hosted at Murrayfield Stadium, which boasts a capacity of 67,144. Given the short distance and large ticket allocation, the fixture would be expected to be a major draw for fans. However, club officials are still considering several domestic options before finalising the summer schedule. Our summer plans are beginning to take shape with a mix of domestic and international fixtures: 🇪🇸 La Manga, Spain: The squad is expected to head to the south of Spain for a warm-weather training camp. This marks a return to the facility for the first time since 2016, with a match against La Liga opposition currently under discussion. 🏁 St James' Park Showcase: To boost attendance following several years of lower-key friendlies, Newcastle United are in talks to host AS Roma. The club is keen to move away from the flat atmospheres of recent years—such as the 2024 fixtures against Girona and Brest—by bringing in European heavyweights. The commercial team is under pressure to deliver 'prestige' matches to fill the stadium, noting the disparity in recent friendly turnouts: 🇪🇸 Atletico Madrid 51,584 🇫🇷 Stade Brest (2024) 33,760 🇪🇸 Girona (2024) 31,958 🇪🇸 Espanyol 30,782 The prospect of a trip to Edinburgh or Spain is certainly an exciting prospect. However, the fixture list remains fluid as Newcastle's commercial and coaching staff finalise the logistics for the 2026/27 build-up! https://www.facebook.com/share/p/17n9T1KgFA/?mibextid=wwXIfr
